FOTM winner, so I believe that entitles me to a free review?

Right now the halloween theme is default, but for the rest of the year Ice Kingdom is default, so I'd like your opinion on that theme. And I'd like Red Herring to complete this. Thanks. 🙂

Scoring:

firstimpression.webp First Impressions & Appearance – (13 out of 20)
My oh my. I can't tell you how pleased I was to hear I was personally requested to review a forum centered on the Mario series; the flagship series of Nintendo and one of the most longest-running video game series to date, having origins dating back to as early as 1981. Growing up back in the 1990's, it was an integral part of my childhood, and I have very fond memories of Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario back in those days of early gaming.

So enough of my rambling. It's time to crack open my head on a brick and see what your forum has to offer, and more importantly, if it lives up to the expectations of so many childhoods.

You have requested for my opinion on a specified theme: Ice Kingdom. I will oblige that request, and my scoring of this section will reflect on the appeal of this design. However, I also feel it to be important that I give my opinion on all of your themes (for reasons I will explain further in this section), so that is exactly what I am going to do. None of them will factor into my scoring, making the section on Ice Kingdom the only one technically relevant to this review, so you need not feel an obligation to read all of them. I will also not be spending as much time on them either; just enough details to get my points across.

Keep in mind that my personal scoring system tends to be more literal. 50/100 is not a bad rating, it is merely blatantly average and perhaps even mediocre or lacking.

Now then. Let's begin.

Ice Kingdom
mWfGnPa.webp
Going by a first impression basis, Ice Kingdom holds the honor of beginning this list. I had already visited the Mario Forums prior to your request and this was the theme I first laid eyes on upon my original entry; and let me tell you, my eyes were most certainly not disappointed. They ate them up like the eye candy this design is.

First and foremost, an exceptional amount of my praise must be directed towards the header. This header is downright glorious and the primary reason that this theme delights me so. The logo stands simple but bold, with a beautifully posed crystalline Mario beside it, ready for action. The classic NES Super Mario world-styled background is quite the attractive touch, being prominent enough to be noticed and subtle enough to not act as a distraction. Navigation elements are a bit simple and unexciting, but manage to blend very well with the header. Finally, we have the profile management bar at the very top, complete with a lovely shade of white with excellent gradients and aesthetically pleasing subtle background imagery in the form of the signature Mario mushroom.

The forum index and body itself do not maintain the same charm as its counterpart at the top, but still manages to support quite a pleasing atmosphere. Categories and forums alike are a bit blocky, though this fact is offset by the category headers, which implement a surprising variety of well-blended shades of blue with the additional element of those subtle mushroom background images I enjoyed from the header. The ice flower forum icons are bright and vibrant, pleasantly so; and every color on the board mesh exquisitely. This is a solid design.

Solid is not grand, however.

I am seldom impressed by aesthetics, as I'm a very difficult individual to please in that regard; but color me impressed. Impressed, but not astounded.

Ice Kingdom, while indeed very pleasing to my eyes, is by no means spectacular. It suffers from a few minor flaws and offers nothing in the way of sensational or ground-breaking design. Don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily bad; the few complaints I have in terms of its design are minor at best, but there is one more major complaint that I have.

From what you've told me, "Ice Kingdom" is your default theme. It's your flagship design, your main attraction in aesthetics, as it were. However, it doesn't feel as though it should be. To be frank, the design simply doesn't match up to the overall image of the Mario world. The Mushroom Kingdom is quite a colorful one; its landscape complete with all varieties of hues, tints and shades. Blue is certainly an element in its vividly colorful scenery, but it's not the primary element. The Mushroom Kingdom is not a landscape completely filled with snow and ice.

My point here is that while "Ice Kingdom" would make a superb secondary design, its image doesn't match with the Mario world enough for it to feel proper as a primary theme. Strange complaint, yes, but a valid one.

Other than that, "Ice Kingdom" is delightful; pure eye candy, and one of the few designs that have managed to genuinely impress me in my review "career."

Acid Haven
r0Ogs8q.webp
I have to say, compared to the enchanting "Ice Kingdom" theme, I was quite bored by this design. The lovely and intuitive elements from its predecessor have been replaced with generic interface design. Furthermore, it's one of many of your designs that all share a common complaint with me: It's barely even relevant to Mario.

One of the few positive elements I could give praise to is the logo. That logo is definitely my favorite amongst all of the logos that Mario Forums make use of, with bold powerful text and a splendid image of Mario himself, snapped in a pose even more impressive than his counterpart in the "Ice Kingdom."

Other than that, there's not a whole lot I can really say here. I suppose the interface design itself is decent but incredibly dull at the same time. There's nothing inherently wrong with the theme's design, it simply feels far too generic. My main issue with it is that it lacks any sort of relevance to the Mario series.

Moving on.

Bleet
s89aqUs.webp
"Bleet", you say? It gives off more of a "Bleak" vibe to me. An alternative name could be "Grey Is The New 'Not' Grey." This theme is one of the more depressing and dreary dark designs I've observed in my time. And, much like "Acid Hive", it lacks any relevance to the Mario series.

In another similar vein to "Acid Hive", the banner is the only element I can really praise. This banner is not nearly as impressive as any of its brethren, but still manages an aesthetically pleasing aura with a tad bit of cleverness in the "[Press Start]" text. Sadly, it's a fish out of water in this theme, far too colorful and vibrant to belong in such a dreary environment.

The index...well...the index is grey. Very grey. It consists of almost nothing but grey. Even non-linked text is grey, creating a very subdued and dispiriting surrounding. The only other form of color is a drab olive green, a color which serves only to accentuate the grim scenery I'm faced with.

Well, while I'm certainly not fond of this design, once again, my main issue is that it lacks relevance.

Next.

Hallow Night
vQzswpz.webp
Eek. Were this a Halloween theme, it would be quite successful in frightening me. "Hallow Night" certainly gives the impression of Halloween, anyway. If such is the case, I suppose it manages to succeed. This is, by far, the design I dislike most out of your choices.

The inclusion of that wonderful logo is an effect completely muddled by everything else. The logo itself is quite the extrinsic element, as if it wandered into the wrong alleyway and wants desperately to escape. The strange asymmetrical mix of orange and black blocks in the category headers are almost disorienting and painful to look at, adding an apparent increase to the number of HTML tables; an element that is normally quite unappealing.

Like the others, my primary issue here is lack of relevance to the Mario series. However, this theme also genuinely suffers in design. I understand the desire for variety, but some effort should be made to at least adapt your secondary themes to look generally appealing, even if you didn't design them. This one feels as though it was added within a period of 2 minutes and lazily had a logo slapped onto it immediately afterwards.

While I would understand keeping the others for variety's sake, I feel this one should simply be deleted and replaced, if possible.

Thankfully, moving on.

Mobile Theme: Magical Mobile Enlightenment
x8FHuuz.webp
I can definitely appreciate an attempt to add better compatibility with mobile devices for your forum. For those dedicated forumers amongst us that can't resist the convenience of such a device, it's quite thoughtful of the administrator to add a compatibility theme. That being said, even a compatibility theme should still maintain a standard of reasonably pleasing aesthetics. This one...doesn't.

I feel as though I've been washed out to a sea of grey, with no hope of escape.

There's nothing else here for me to even critique, aside from the clear lack of design. This mobile theme is the hipster of grey; it's so bland and barren that I don't believe even the prospect of easy access of the Mario Forums from a mobile device would entice me to use it.

It's still a nice addition for your more active community members, but perhaps something a little less colorless would be preferable. Fortunately, I'm not going to complain about relevance here. For a mobile theme, lack of relevant design is understandable.

On to the next contestant.

Mobile Theme: Pk Mobile tHat
GqhuvnX.webp
Ah, here we are. This is a more amiable mobile landscape. I feel as though I've just been introduced to Magical Mobile Enhancements' more charming and esteemed brother. Magical Mobile Enhancement is the high school drop out, Pk Mobile tHat is the college student.

Of course, as a mobile theme, nailing a truly pleasing aesthetic landscape is difficult; and this one does not succeed on this front, but it's a satisfactory enough design if I wanted to access the Mario Forums via a mobile device. Pk Mobile tHat still manages a reasonably pleasing environment through the use of gradients and a much stronger shade of grey.

I would have no qualms about making use of it, if I had to.

Moving on to the next design.

Plague O' Pumpkin
Fg9eXZu.webp
On the last two designs, I mentioned how I greatly appreciate an administrator willing to go the extra mile to ensure their mobile userbase is cared for through the addition of a mobile compatibility theme. Similarly, I am quite ecstatic when an administrator goes above and beyond even the call of duty when it comes to celebrating events and holidays; such as, for instance, adding a design themed towards that holiday or event in particular. "Plague O' Pumpkin" fulfills this element.

And it's not bad.

The background honestly feels a little bland, as the only color involved is a dark shade of grey which envelops the entire theme, except for the header. Speaking in terms of the logo, it's also somewhat disappointing; the Goomba with the pumpkin head is very nice and the text may be sleek, but it feels uninspiring. I would've hoped to see the addition of Boo's and/or the addition of other spooky Mario-esque creatures. Instead, there's but a single Goomba with a pumpkin head.

Still, uninspiring though it may be, it's still a polished dark design and not an unwelcome one for Halloween aesthetics. Surprisingly, it also manages to feel somewhat relevant to the Mario series, albeit barely, but more-so than most of your other themes at least. It's a false relevance, however. Truth be told, it isn't relevant, but manages to trick you into a small sense of it.

Not bad. Could be much better. But it's satisfactory.

Onto the next design.

Red Velvet
73Q9ZnE.webp
Now this is quite a nice change of pace. Ever since leaving the Ice Kingdom, I've been greeted with theme after theme that either struck a bad chord with my aesthetic standard or was overtly average, bland or mediocre. Now, for the first time since then, I'm met with a theme that puts a sparkle into my eyes. It doesn't strike me to be as gorgeous as your "Ice Kingdom" theme, but I would have no issue with using this one.

Much like Ice Kingdom, the header is definitely the main attraction. The odd thing about it is that it's relatively empty for how large it is, but it doesn't feel like it is. There are two elements to the header that fill the void extraordinarily: the logo itself, and the interesting spotlight effect. The spotlight is the saving grace of this header. For such a simple effect, it feels as though it adds so much to an empty pile, and without it, the header would feel far more empty and dull. On the opposite end of this spectrum, this Mario Forums logo may not be my favorite, but it stands out more than any other logo you have. It's also quite rare for me to find a logo that blends so exceptionally well with its design. The logo is like a piece of a puzzle with this design, without it, it'd simply be incomplete. Excellent work. The header could stand to be somewhat smaller and more refined (the navigation elements are rather dull), but it's quite good for how simplistic it is.

The index is quite elegant; soft gradients, beautiful category headers, an excellent use of colored HTML table borders. Graceful. I have no complaints.

In terms of relevance, "Red Velvet" is much like "Plague O' Pumpkin" in that it isn't relevant, but fools you into believing it is. False relevance is not a bad thing, but I would rather see the creative relevance found in "Ice Kingdom" rather than a pseudo form of it.

Good work. Moving on.

Spirit's Theme
lto7c8g.webp
Well, I suppose "Spirit's Theme" is not particularly bad in any sense, though it does feel somewhat trite. By which I mean that I feel it's an incredibly generic, dime-a-dozen design; which is why it suffers.

The header is polished but bland, the logo is bland but polished, the index is polished but...well, you see what I'm getting at here. It's like eating a meal that looks pleasing but feels rather tasteless. There is nothing really wrong here, it's simply generic; about as generic as one can get. And, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, suffers from lack of relevance to the Mario series, much like many of its counterparts.

There's nothing else for me to say here. So let's move on to the final design.

Tropical Night
lUaHEUo.webp
The rating here may have been a little unfair as it only experiences one crippling flaw (next to several minor ones), but that flaw was quite a shattering one and had severe impact on my first impressions. First impressions are quite important, as every administrator worth their weight realize.

I am referring to the header; the design of which borders on abysmal and serves to deteriorate any merit this design might have had. The logo is very much out of place, figuratively and literally, managing not only to blend poorly with the design but also dips down below a separator border into the UCP bar...a very unattractive aspect. The navigation elements just barely manage to avoid this, that is, until you hover over the and the CSS underline effect throws caution to the wind, crossing the separator's threshold. The UCP bar itself is simply boring and even somewhat ugly, a fact accentuated by the unruly header elements above.

The index manages to redeem this somewhat with adequate design. The category headers are glistening and shiny, overall beautiful interface design. Forums make use of well-blended blueish grey shades and unusually well-integrated greens for text links.

Sadly, having to endure the header on each and every page I navigate to sullies these facts, and I find myself eager to be away from it. And, something I fortunately mention for the last time, the design lacks any relevance to the Mario series.

And with that, my tour of critique of all themes is finished.

END OF THEME CRITIQUE SECTION.

Now then. Why did I take the time to critique each and every theme? Personal enjoyment, for one. However, I wanted to highlight one major fact persistent with every secondary theme you've added: They all lack any relevance to the Mario series, feeling completely out of place, uninspiring and especially uncreative with a clear lack of effort in adapting the majority of them to suit your website and even themselves as designs.

Now, I understand that it's very unlikely you personally designed any of your secondary themes. I also understand that they likely were not implemented to be particularly exciting or pretty, but simply to offer variety to your userbase, which is quite admirable on the administration front.

However, the variety you offer disappoints me. I have no compelling reason to make use of any of these generic themes and neither do your users; excluding those who prefer dark themes or simply do not appreciate "Ice Kingdom's" color scheme. Admittedly, there might be a fair number of users in those categories, but you can do better for your variety.

If you're willing to put in the effort with Ice Kingdom, then I desperately want to see what you could do if you were to create other secondary Mario designs, and especially a more centralized Mario theme. I mentioned previously that Ice Kingdom feels more of a secondary design for the colorful world of Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom and a new flagship design to capture that would be much more befitting for your forums.

There is no reason to remove most of your current secondary themes at the present time, nor should you. Variety in design is one of the most wonderful elements for a forum to have, and you should definitely keep such an element. However, I feel that if you slowly began to replace them with unique designs relevant to the colorful world of Mario, you could have a truly outstanding aesthetic factor to the Mario Forums.

The Mushroom Kingdom is by no means lacking in unique and interesting worlds and biomes, all of which are vibrant and rich in color. There's so much potential for design here; complete with lava environments, ice environments, green environments, spooky environments, strange environments, space environments, western environments; even towns, cities and numerous denizens to populate them. You should take the opportunity to capture these.

Anyway, I digress. Going by the Ice Kingdom alone, your aesthetics are not grandiose, but still very pleasing and solid. I just really want to see what you can do if you applied the Mario world more to your theme variety; it's a prospect I am very excited to see executed and hope that you ordain to eventually achieve.

Site Layout – (9 out of 20)
I'm going to go straight off the bat here. Your forum index is one that's quite perplexing to me. So perplexing, in fact, that it's going to take two sections to fully cover it: "Site Layout" and "Content." The technical details will be discuss in this section while more specific elements will be covered in "Content." Now, it's not puzzling to the point of being confusing. "Disorganized" is the proper description for it. Strangely disorganized, at that.

Before getting into that though, let's delve into the topic of functionality navigation and subsequently, functionality layout. Your "Mario Forums" run on Zetaboards. The enforced Zetaboards banner makes that fact a very clear one. Obviously, this means that most forum functionality and layout should be the Zetaboard standard, for the most part. It's been a very long time since I used or administrated a ZB forum, so it's difficult for me to separate ZB standard from unique elements, so I'll try to avoid making assumptions.

The Zetaboard standard is practical one, in any case. I had no issue navigating any element of your website. Every function and page were simple to access, always at my fingertips; smooth and quick to navigate through. Furthermore, most everything was aesthetically pleasing to the eye, aside from a few notable instance.

Profiles, being one of those instances. I am unsure if the "Advanced Profile" is a mod you installed or a default element to Zetaboards, but compared to the Classic Profile, it's quite a mess of text and oddly disorganized boxes of information. Aesthetics were a bit atrocious and I found myself much more comfortable in the "Classic Profile View." I also have to note that when I switched to a different profile, I could not switch back without reloading the page, sullying the original intent to transition between the two without having to reload.

Beyond that, I have few complaints in terms of functionality navigation. It's one of several aspects that Zetaboards excels in.

Let's discuss my primary concern now: the board layout. If I had to make an analogy, I'd say the index is much like an sandwich with strange experimental ingredients. You have your community center at the top and off-topic section at the bottom to serve as your bread. Very reasonable, you can't have a sandwich without bread, after all. And it's good bread, properly organized and categorized. In between the bread is what concerns me.

"Community"? What a strange little category this is. It consists of one forum catered to the original point of discussion: Mario, another forum catered towards general gaming and three forums catered towards the userbase themselves in the forum of "Introductions", "Ask Me" (User Interviews), and "Personal Achievements" (User Announcements). I suppose this does indeed fall under the Mario Forums community, but the categorization is still dubious at best. Gaming and User Interaction forums combined into the same category? Very odd.

For one, considering "general gaming" is not the original purpose of this forum, it's a bit strange to be grouped in with the primary community forums and even stranger to be separated from its normally inseparable brother, "Entertainment", whom of which is currently sitting in the Off-Topic section. Even boards that branch both of these topics out into separate categories tend to stick them next to one another on the index.

Secondly, "General Gaming" and especially "Mario", the former being the primary topic of the forum, both only receive one forum with a couple sub-forums...but the three user-based forums all receive their own dedicated forums; when all of which essentially fall under the same topic?

Would it not be more efficient to group all three user-based forums into one (with sub-forums) and add them to your "Mario Forums" category? Or simply give them their own separate category? Why is discussion on Mario neglected so, when it's the primary topic of your forum? Wouldn't gaming be better off paired in the off-topic section with its long-lost brother, "Entertainment?"

Puzzling. Puzzling indeed.

page_white_edit.png
Content – (6 out of 20)
The Mysterious Case of the Mario Forums Index: Part 2. I switched positions between the "Statistics and Activity" section and "Content" so that I could immediately continue my critique of this equivocal categorization. In "Site Layout", I covered the technicalities of your index that puzzled me. Here, I intend to discuss more specific details. And there's really only one specific detail I'm concerned with. That detail is quite an important one, however.

If these are the "Mario Forums"...where...are...the Mario forums?

Someone better call Luigi. Mario Is Missing!

w1EEANk.webp

Well, okay. That was a bit of an exaggeration. Mario is not missing, but he's not particularly present. There is one forum dedicated to the discussion of Mario and everything it entails; technically three, but two of them are merely sub-forums and overly specific ones at that: "Mario Kart" and "Mario Videos." Catering to a Mario game is good, but an entire forum dedicated to Mario videos? What about all the other great Mario games and content such as the RPG's (Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Paper Mario: TTYD, Super Paper Mario, Paper Mario 3DS), Mario Party games (Mario Party 2 was one of my absolute favorite N64 games), the more unique adventure-oriented Mario games (Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy), the classics (Super Mario Bros), or the spin-offs (Luigi's Mansion, WarioWare)? Why is there hardly any Mario discussion to be had at "The Mario Forums"?

Well, from what I've observed, your community appears to have adapted beyond its original purpose and turned into a more "general discussion" type of forum. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and it happens more often than not. So long as an enjoyable community is established and prospers, no one can complain if the original purpose changes and adapts to serve the current community.

However, the fact remains that you are "The Mario Forums." You fly under Mario's banner, but no one is holding it; it's a banner unattended and neglected and poor Mario appears to be gathering a bit of dust. "The Mario Forums" feel less like a website catered to the discussion of Mario and more like a general discussion forum that happens to have a single forum dedicated to Mario.

Those that come to your forums with the one purpose of expressing their love of and discussing the Mario series will find themselves disappointed. Sadly, due to how much your community has adapted beyond this purpose, it might even constitute as unfair to attempt to fix this. And if you do intend to branch out to expand your poor coverage of the Mario series, be sure to get the go-ahead from your community before doing so.

If not, you might want to look into changing your community's image to reflect the adaption. In any case, good luck.

stats.webp Statistics and Activity – (11 out of 20)
Quite a history, the Mario Forums must have, having been established in 2010. Three years is quite a long time to exist on the internet, even if it doesn't sound like it, and I'm certain you've seen your fair share of bumps and highs in its weathered history. Unfortunately, I have not been a part of this community you've built and weathered through the ages, so I cannot properly gauge how things have fared in the past three years. I can certainly make an estimate, however.

Speaking through statistics, 215,000+ posts is quite an admirable quantity of posts to have acquired over the course of three years, especially with a userbase under 1000 members. It's a statistic you can very much feel proud to have achieved, as few communities ever manage to accomplish that number, much less one that runs on a free-forum service such as Zetaboards. I am quite impressed.

To further brighten this with an even more positive note, you appear to have gathered quite a tightly-knit community of active members, all of whom post regularly enough for "The Mario Forums" to be considered stable with consistent activity. This is to be expected, considering you seem to have adapted into more of a general discussion style of community, and no other genre of forum brings a community together like general discussion does; because community is its one and only purpose.

Your community, though active and relatively dedicated, is small and in something of a decline. One that's not particularly noticeable, but in a decline no less. This can be traced back to the point of your community's adaption into a more generalized one. While general discussion indeed brings a closer sense of community, it also shuts several doors and tends to be more difficult to approach than a specialized community. This bond that brings your dedicated members closer together also serves to make it more difficult for newer members to share solidarity with your veteran userbase. Lacking in a specialized purpose further widens the gap between your community and prospective membership in that it's difficult to gain that solidarity when your community does not share a unified purpose.

It's a flaw, unfortunately, that the vast majority of general communities suffer from, one that makes it very rare for a general community to grow into a large userbase.

The solution is to bring back that unified purpose in the discussion of the Mario series by expanding upon its discussion/events; and a lot of elbow grease put into advertising. This would greatly assist in allowing your userbase to grow, but at the cost of also loosening the bond your community currently shares in being a general community. Ultimately the decision is up to you.

In any case, while "The Mario Forums" show signs of decline, it is by no means dying and probably will not be for quite some time, so long as you maintain your sense of community and actively participate within it.

spellcheck.webp Spelling/Grammar & Professionalism – (9 out of 20)
Dear oh dear. I'm afraid I was disappointed in this section. Before you get the wrong impression, I am not implying that your spelling and grammar are terrible, or any such. They're quite fine on that end, I assure you. I did not encounter a single error in spelling, although it's possible I could have missed something, in that regard. Even if I did, a couple spelling errors would not be a major issue, and it's not my main point here.

What I'm really disappointed with here is that everything lacks creativity, flair or excitement in its writing. Reading the entire forum index was quite a tedious endeavor. It certainly didn't take long, but it was very dull and very boring, while it lasted. And much like the secondary themes, the writing seems to lack any relevance to "Mario."

"Introduce Yourself!", indeed. I myself would've been incredibly tempted to name an Introductory forum "World 1-1" and have a slight smile to myself every time I see it (on the inside, anyway). Considering your forum doesn't particularly cater to Mario these days, however, I suppose lack of theme can be forgiven. Regardless, writing still remains bleak and simple. The writing describes the forums, as it should, and does so in a concise way, but it lacks any flair in doing so. It just feels so...lifeless.

Sadly, I really don't have anything else to say. The writing just feels so empty and it appears to have extended itself to this section. Your forum should feel excited about itself. It makes your image seem much brighter and charming.

Unfortunately, there is so little personality in what's there that it honestly deteriorates the image. A shame.

Ah well. Your grammar is correct and your descriptions are accurate. In the end, I suppose that's what really counts.

Total Score - (48 out of 100)

Final Remarks:
Before I begin my final conclusion, let me reaffirm that I intend absolutely no offense, personal or towards your forums; with all that I've said and what I'm currently about to say. It is simply my blunt honest truth, and I've always aspired to maintain that in my reviews. I am here to critique, not raise self-esteem, that's my motto.

By the end of my visit to the Mario Forums, I am afraid my experience was a disappointing one. The only element I found to have any enticement for me were aesthetics, but I've always valued content and community over aesthetics. And, most unfortunately, the Mario Forums suffer severely from lack of content.

If this were a general discussion community, which seems to be what it's adapting into anyway, I would understand. However, it still bears the name of "The Mario Forums" and the intended purpose of that name. And in terms of Mario, there's hardly any content to be found. There's one forum (with two sub-forums) dedicated to the discussion of Mario and eleven that aren't (not including sub-forums). A 1 to 11 ratio is a rather bankrupt statistic when it comes to the main purpose of your community. Furthermore, the categories that your forum has are organized in a rather dubious fashion.

Still, with that being said, the aesthetics of the "Ice Kingdom" theme were quite pleasing and managing to be one of the few forum designs to have impressed me, and I am by nature quite a picky individual in that regard. You've also managed to build a stable and active community memberbase, one that's closely-knit and wonderful. And by their merit alone, I am sure your forums will exist for quite some time, and will likely even draw more. But in its current state, I do not see this becoming a large community. The importance of that aspect depends entirely on you.

The main issue here is that these simply do not feel like "The Mario Forums." It feels like a general discussion community with a mario paint-job.

Regardless, whatever path or road it takes, however bumpy, I wish it the best of regards and hope it lasts for years to come for its community to enjoy.

Best of luck, Mario Forums.

Whew. I sincerely apologize for being so long-winded. There's simply so much that I wanted to cover. And I hope it's still satisfactory. There's even an entire bulky section you can skip (one that I've marked) if you do not feel like reading the entire thing.

And let me just say once again that I meant absolutely no offense in my review. I'm simply a harsh, blunt critic, and hope I do not dispirit you in any way. It's a wonderful community, and if you and your community are happy with it, my criticism need not matter in any shape or form.
