Thanks fiona. You as well. Although I'm sure you guys do NOT celebrate the day. 😀

I'm unemployed this summer, so I already had tomorrow off. I'm not sure if we're doing anything for the 4th this year though, it's just been too hot and it's dangerously too dry for fireworks and stuff.

There was a 7.0 earthquake last night, shook the whole country. Yay.

That's awful. I'm guessing you're okay as you're posting on here? What's with New Zealand and earthquakes? I've never felt an earthquake or anything really. There was one a few hundred miles away a couple years ago, but it was a small earthquake and I slept through it. 😛

Ive been through about 11,000 since September 2010 😛

It's because we do have a massive tectonic plate underneath us. They reckon it will go off for the first time in 500 years very soon producing a 9.0 or around that. If that happens a lot of people could die because that 9.0 is deadly for only 30 seconds but they're predicting it will last up to 4 minutes of contant shaking which means I could be offline for weeks if it destroys the whole country.

So, why do you live in New Zealand? I've always thought New Zealand sounds like an awesome place ever since I found out about the country's existence by meeting you on Codes4Codes. I didn't even know what New Zealand was before then. It's one of those countries that I think would be cool to visit if I wasn't poor, but I wouldn't want to live there with all those earthquakes. 😛

Without being rude, does your school not teach geography?
New Zealand is quite a large country, just surprised that's all.

The education standards were pretty low in Tennessee when I first met him nearly three years ago. A lot has changed since then though. I was an 8th grader in middle school when I met him, and geography wasn't taught until high school in 9th or 10th grade.

Oh I see. I don't really know what the American education system is like so sorry if I caused any offence. I'm very shocked at what you have said though, I think they should be putting more effort into the education system as it's the young people that will eventually go on to run the country.

Probably around 90% of what I know about other countries I learned on forums. 😛

I didn't know that New Zealand and Australia have Christmas during their summer until I discussed it with someone on another forum. I didn't know that New Zealand and Australia students are in school during June and July until I was told by someone on another forum. I didn't even know that people in Australia, New Zealand, etc. spoke English at first. I had never even heard of the Premiere League or any teams like Manchester United and Manchester City.

Wow, that's crazy. Forums are great for learning, if you ever want to know anything about England you know where to come 😛

Yeah, in terms of information on the rest of the world and not just the United States, I'm probably the smartest teenager at my school. 😛

Yeah... public education in America is severely lacking. I learned my Geography from strategy games, my grammar from forums, and my critical thinking ability from trying to start websites.

Public school in America is a sham.
