Three more days of work and I have a long weekend ahead of me. We are actually off on Monday. I'm pissed at myself for even asking if we were taking that day off, because we always take major holidays off and stuff like that. I'm employed through an agency, and I have a job coach who brings me to work and brings me back home at the end of my shift, but the reason it's kind of stupid because taking times off like this is sort of a tradition, simply because the main office building isn't open on holidays, so it should really make sense. I still remember 2 years ago when we took our first major holiday off (Christmas). Our job coach was getting desperate to find out if we were going to be around or not, because she had to inform the manager and let him know whether or not we were coming in. This is embarrassing for me because when such a debate comes up, my family and I are not the type to plan that far ahead... it's just hard to put in for time off if you don't know if you're going to be around or not. Finally it came to a head and there ended up being three of us who said we weren't going to be around. There're about five or six of us housekeepers overall. So to have three out of five or six say that they aren't going to be in town or just unable to work the holiday at all, it gets to be kind of unanimous and we end up taking the day off anyway. I don't even know why I bother asking if we're taking holidays off... been at my job for two and a half years now, so I should know the routine as to when we're working and when we're not... but there you have it, though!
