Why in the heck are all these sites getting hacked yet again? Obviously some kids have nothing better to do with their time then ruin other people's hard work. I just sent out an urgent PM on Chatting Time asking members to please change their passwords if they have not done so already. Haven't had to send a PM like that out since Wober got hacked last year or the year before when it was still on phpBB. I also sent out an alert on our Facebook and Twitter page as well. Honestly, do people not have anything better to do than keep the rest of us on our toes all the time?? Really? How about finding something more constructive to do than ruining some of our hard workers. Sorry, was really pissed when I posted this so I had to rant.

Find their IP Address, call their ISP, get their details, go knock on their door, and say you're going to sue them. Good luck. 😉

I didn't get free tacos, by the way. I've never been hacked, but seriously, go get your own account rather than ruin somebody else's reputation.

Okay.. I don't know what made think they were free, lol. I'm losing my mind here...

It's not just my forum that's been done in. It's about as bad as it was this time last summer when all those sites on Forumotion were being hacked. We didn't exactly lose a year's worth of work, so it's not worth reporting. The most I've done is just sent out an urgent Private Message for all members, staff, VIP's and Donators to please change their passwords the first chance they get. Besides that, even if we could file a lawsuit, we wouldn't be able to, because we don't know who the idiots are that are causing all this trouble in the first place. As for banging on doors like I'm some sort of a police officer, there are too many people that live too far away, so that is seriously out of the question. Especially when you look at how flight tickets are becoming expensive and the fact that security has gotten really tight too from what I'm lead to understand. Also, changing passwords isn't the only security measure we're taking, we've also upped how often we do backups now as well. It used to be every twenty-four hours, but now it's down to every twelve hours because of the hacking and some other technical issues we've been having. So while that is a good idea, I don't see myself taking anybody to court anytime soon. All we can do is up security measures, make sure people change their passwords, and move on. Besides, it wasn't even my account on my own forum that was hacked, anyway. It was our co-admins' who was, funnily enough. I thought it weird when I came on, saw we'd been hacked, and yet I was still logged in... don't think I've ever had that happen before!

@Ashley - if my site was hacked, I would definetely bring some friends with me to go to their house and sue em. They deserve it and they gotta learn not to do it and that's only learning the hard way.

Ashley, by the way, I t hink you should put Chatting Time in your sig. 😉
It will make it easier for members to get on there. I might join it sometime, anyway, back on topic.

Hacking hasn't really happened to me (only to my cousins and my brother who hack my facebook time to time o.o), but I don't get what is so fun about ruining somebodies reputation. I don't get what the fun is in doing that, but you're right about not being able to track them down within such distance away from you. However, hacking is sometimes used as fun joking or payback, but when you're posting on a forum that's not the case. Within my knowledge, I would never hack somebody. Ever. That's why we have passwords. I don't like hackers.

Nice, dentist. What happened? I don't get the fun in hacking, and once again, I would never do it!

I just been having a good day. And yes, I do agree that hacking isn't something someone should do, it is something that ruins someones work.

Hey guys what's up? I've been having a bad day.

-- 17 Aug 2011, 20:47 --

Hey guys what's up? I've been having a bad day.
