A problem has been that my emails won't work for XF 2. However, hosting won't change settings on the php.ini stuff (security reasons they say). However, though, I've seen I can change it myself on cPanel. I guess nobody can stop me.

They have no clue what they're doing.
In fact, they probably don't know anything about anything, they probably read off a script, push whatever buttons they can see, and take your questions literally to the letter.
