You can go to any webmaster forum and read about all the latest SEO theories. Some people are still saying we should be backlinking from forums and bookmark sites, while others theorize that we should just let Google find the site naturally.
But, there seems to be a lot of talk and no consensus about what to do for SEO.
Yet, Google spells out clearly in their Webmaster Guidelines all the things we should and should not to do, such as no link schemes (paid links, link cartwheels, spam backlinks). Doesn't anyone read that?
Google says that we should publish good content, but there are still people on forums talking about 'spun articles' and writing 200 word fluff pieces and wondering why they are not ranking yet.
If it's clearly stated as what we should do to get our sites ranked, no mysteries. So, why are people still asking questions?
