Have you ever encountered a person in the forum world who constantly is remaking themselves?
They register new user names (probably post using proxies or they get a new IP address) and pretend to be different people but you can always tell who they are?
 
Yeah. There are always telltale signs: living in the same area, same name, same grammar (not effective on a large board), and they aren't nervous posting, like a real new member would be.
 
Yup...I knew a person just like this. It can usually be told because each person is actually pretty distinct. And try as they may, they can never escape the demons that got them the first time around.
 
Ive seen this a lot of times, it's quite funny to watch them reply to themselves :lol:
 
Seen it around on other forums but have never had it happen on a community I managed. I think it's quite pathetic and pointless.
 
Well I've gotten past the phpBB.com perma ban a fair few times. I think we all know of at least one user who use to (not sure if still does) tries to get pass the ban system.
 
I've seen this before, actually. They come out with the same forum over and over again too. I think some of you may know who we're discussing here.

I think I know who you're talking about as well.

I think they're pathetic, sad people.
 
I know someone on one forum who mass spams a particular section on a weekly basis, even though the forum requires a 5 dollar subscription to the game it's about to access. So, basically, he probably paid 5 dollars for each spamming of that forum (he got to spam like twice or thrice on every accounts because of an administration which couldn't realize he was the same guy, despite having almost the same name every time) or, alternatively, play the game for a couple days to get enough experience in said game to get access to the forums. And no, he wasn't a bot.

I don't think I know who you're talking about (I just hope that it ain't me).
 
Ugh, I hate this kind of member. I just permaban the secondary account and temp ban the original. If they do it again, it's permaban, end of story.

If, on the other hand, they are using the account to avoid an account sanction it's a permaban on both accounts.

Happened on a forum of mine before, he just wanted to help get the member count up.
 
I don't know anyone who does this but I hope they don't because it's rude.
