Analysis:
Strengths:
Excellent theme.
I really like your theme, especially given the subject of your forum. It really gives off a "techy" vibe, and it's pretty easy to look at as well. I especially like how it seems to match everywhere you go; from the index, to the postbit and profiles! The only place where it seems to lose consistency is the logo. I'd suggest looking into purchasing a matching logo. The left part of the logo looks alright, however, the red part on the right is too small and sticks out like a sore thumb. Also, this might just be personal preference, however, I don't like that the logo is centered at the top. The rest of the theme is well executed though, it's nice to see a theme that doesn't automatically scream what forum software it's based on, if that makes sense.
Excellent staff contributions.
Normally I'd point out that on a forum that is in its beginning stage, your forum has a lot of staff members. However, every one of your team members seems to contribute a fair amount, which is a VERY important thing when a forum is trying to take off! If you can keep these staff members around and interested, they will be an excellent jump start on getting a variety of new topics and interesting posts.
Weaknesses:
Different guest view.
I know that your site is currently in beta, however, from a guest's viewpoint, your forum looks completely stock. There are only a few visible subforums, and the default phpBB theme is showing. If I was a first time visitor to your website, this wouldn't be a good impression and if I'm being honest, I wouldn't want to come back. Even though it seems like keeping some forums hidden would entice people to sign up, in my experience, it works the other way around. My advice is to try to keep your visitors informed on any changes that you do during this beta phase.
Cluttered index page.
Without mincing words, you have a lot of subforums. Once again, this is one of those counter-intuitive things about running a forum. It seems like you would want to have a lot of subforums about a lot of different subjects, however, if you take this to the extreme, it just confuses people and makes it difficult for them to find a place to post their ideas. Especially when you have a small forum, it's crucial that you have a decent layout with a few broad categories to help spawn ideas. In my experience, the best way to do this is to get rid of as much subforums as you can right now; you can always re-add them later. Try to make your categories more general, and the layout will be a lot easier to use and a lot more user-friendly. 🙂
