I HIGHLY doubt they will raise the price. It would anger the community.

Well if you count Ikonboard (also made by Matt Mecham), then its been around longer. He branched off & made IPB 3 years later.
ikonboard is a faulty relation, because it's a script in a completely different language. I love IPB and all... but that one doesn't pass muster. 😉

Giving IPB credit for ikonboard's beginnings would be less accurate than giving Xenforo credit for vB's beginnings.

Edit: Also, IPB was out less than a year after he left JEG.

I don't think there'll be a price raise anytime soon either. Vbulletin has also had the same pricings for years, haven't they?

Xenforo is an awesome software, mate. It's great to run, great to post in, and great to style. If you are looking for a software that pretty much has it all, XF is the way to go 😉

Xenforo should be a free software. I'd rank it near mybb, which is good.

You're crazy. If Xenforo was free it would leave the free softwares in the dust, and people would leave paid softwares for it. It would be a free forum software better than paid if it was free. MyBB would die for sure if Xenforo was free. Its best if it just stays paid. 😛

Really? MyBB won't die until i'm into Foruming. 😛
Trust me, i would NOT move from MyBB to Xenforo, even if you give me a free license of it.

Though i agree, its the best PAID forum script around, and if i was you Chris, i would sell the VB and IPB licenses and get Xenforo.
VB and IPB looks the same as free ones like MyBB, phpBB, etc.
You must have been drunk and/or high when you wrote that. I don't know of a single free forum software that looks like IPB, and why would you sell an IPB license just to get XenForo? Is it because you want to jump on the XenForo bandwagon for the same reason as everyone else, which is ecause it's what others are doing. IPB smokes XenForo, it has a load mote modifications and themes, and has heaps more support.

No i'm not. And for an info, i never drink alcohols.

Why should a free forum script look like IPB? And is there some feature in IPB that can't be achieved by using a plugins in free Forums? Every Forum softwares have their own ups and downs. Seriously, instead of spending so much on IPB, i would just use a free script and use a plugin if i find some features missing. That would cost much more less.

I don't want to jump into Xenforo bandwagon, which you can know from my previous post mentioning, i won't move from MyBB anyways. Xenforo has different features that makes it unique, though as you said it can't compete with IPB or VB regarding its plugins and themes. But their default theme is even good enough.

Ok at first I will have to say I hated it (just tested it on their trial) but I didn't get much time to mess around on it.. But the more I get to spend time on it and be a member on the forum software It make me like it that much more.. the Admin panel is so sleek and easy to follow... It's a really nice forum no doubt about it, if you are interested in it I would check it out.

Like what?
Anything any software offers can be duplicated and be offered as an add-on, sometimes developers will take an idea and make it even better. 😛

I like it because it loads quickly (it has to be the fastest loading forum software, surely) and it seems to be intergrated into social media straight out of the box. In a few months I'm sure it's going to be smashing the others out of the park.

However, I just can't justify spending $140 on it right now... it doesn't seem to be that much better than even the free options that it's worth $140.<br /><br />-- 25 Jul 2011, 21:27 --<br /><br />I decided to do some more research on XenForo and I found this interesting link: http://www.thelawprofessor.com/internet ... s-opinion/ (apologies if it has been posted in this thread already but a quick check suggests it hasn't).

I'm slighly more familiar with English law than the author says he is (I'm an Aussie law student and our system is much closer to England's than it is to the US) and I'm absolutely certain that he's correct where he says that an injunction is granted on the same terms as the US system. That means that Jelsoft's failure to legally appeal for an injunction suggests that they don't have a case.

However, the important bit is that Jelsoft themselves consider XenForo important enough to file a lawsuit against them before they even launched... that certainly makes me think XenForo is capable of some very good things.
