So, I'm thinking of creating a forum, but I'm not sure what to make it about, I was thinking about a GFX Oriented forum but, then i saw that there are already a ton of those out there. So, can some of you guys throw some ideas at me?

I'm going to be making the forum with Invision Power Basic 10 Package, do you think that should be good for now until the forum gets popular and i upgrade it?

Never choose your software based on board activity, always choose based off personal preference.

Well some potential is goo- you don't want the forum to run out of posting ideas too quickly!

Some short-term forums do quite well.... Are there any games or tv series you like?

I like some Anime Shows like Bleach, Naruto, etc

Anime forums do quite well. Better then relying on people posting/requesting gfx. People can role play and chat about their fav animes which can go on forever. Set avatars to anime toons and let it roll would be my suggestion. Seeing as you like them to begin with, you can come up with ideas for it easier and create content easier for it as well.

1. TOPIC - what do you know very well and love? You need to have this passion today and in 4 years time. Don't choose a niche just because it's good for the money, choose one you love and are knowledgeable about.

2. SCRIPT - test them out. All provide demo accounts and you can see which 'feels' better. I personally like MyBB for free scripts and VB or XF for paid. But that's me.

So you need to really think about what YOU love and then do some keyword research, buy the domain name, hosting and the script.

Okay, andwhat do you guys think about me buying this for right now? Invision Power Basic 10 Package

Have a read of this guide on how to start a forum. That should give you a good point of view if you want to start a forum. But please, make sure you think about what you are doing. It annoys me seeing people asking for names for websites/forums. No creativity is put into new sites these days and they close days later.

If you want a successful website then don't just jump at the chance. Plan it all out and prepare. Make sure you get a good domain and extension to go with it. Buying software doesn't necessarily mean it'll be great straight away, you have to work at it. The best plan of action is to go with something that hasn't been done before or there are not many sites like it around. A graphic forum might be a good place to start thinking but you should be very skilled at graphics and even though there are lots, many of them are just crap.

), and I tend to agree with what you say 😉

If you just rush headlong into a forum because you see a successful forum here and there, you're starting a forum for the wrong reason. You need to think through what you are doing, and then decide to go. Do you see how many people crash and burn with their forums? A lot! I'm not trying to discourage you, but you need to know the fact that this is what usually happens! If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.

Please take that into account before opening your forum 😉
Good luck!

IPB is a great paid script as well as vBulletin. However, I'd go free as there are GREAT alternatives. This comes from a person who currently owns a vBulletin license and doesn't use it currently!

Listen to the users above you about choosing a topic, no need to repeat those things.
But yeah with graphics it will take more time to get members and posts because its harder to post a new graphic created then it is to post about a new tv show seen.

Good luck with your forum whatever it is and if you need help, feel free to PM me.
