Okay today we're driving and we have a $80 GPS that we use in our car. So...while we're driving a warning box came up on the GPS and said slow traffic/accident ahead. Do you want an alternative route?
So I was just surprised that this very basic and cheap GPS would ever do this. I was also amazed how the GPS knew this? It was like 3 miles ahead too! There was an actual car accident that slowed traffic on the freeway. 😛

I wish my gps would do that. Instead it says im on one road but im on another 3 miles way.

Wow that sucks. Hmm how old is it? Mine is less than 6 months old. 😛

That's actually pretty cool that it lets you know when there's been an accident or something and you need to be careful because there may be emergency veichles up ahead. I thought those things could only give you directions, I didn't know they told you if an emergency was happening and you needed to reduce your speed.

Well the speed was like 15 MPH so...if the GPS didn't tell us there was an accident ahead we would of had no idea and thought it was just traffic. But, after a few miles we saw the car accident.

Pretty cool. Pretty soon computers will be able to detect when you need to use the restroom or when you are hungry. Then messages will pop up on your GPS suggesting the nearest place with a restroom or food.

A GPS will do anything nowadays I guess. A couple years ago, my family was in Tampa Bay and our GPS really let us down. It was our first time ever in Tampa Bay, and we were looking for a quick route, we went with what the GPS said. It ended up taking us to like ten toll bridges.

Lol the first time going to Vandenberg AFB on my way to the first day of work I ended up in some town 40 miles away! 😀

Dumb GPS 🙁

I have heard about those GPS systems, but never had the chance to use one of those.

 Wouldn't that be nice? Ha, ha, that'd be pretty neat, actually!

they can sortof already do that... only they don't pop up as soon as you realize you need to take a leak or your stomach's grumblin' Lol.

That's awesome.

Still...I'm not going to trust a GPS for another 3 or 4 years....

Hopefully images like this?

My friend had one which would tell you after 4 hours of driving to take a break which was ok until one day it told us just about 1/2 a mile from home
so no we did not take a break that time

Another friend hated it as instead of getting him to where he wanted he ended in a field

I don't need GPS as we know where we are going 😛
Other than that we just use MapQuest...FTW.

What makes you think they will be better in 3 or 4 years?

Well technology will be better, and then maybe if I get a GPS, it won't get me lost in the middle of nowhere.

That's pretty cool. I don't think my TomTom GPS has a feature like that. I get txt alerts about accidents and heavy traffic on my phone. I tend not to check it though because I'll be driving. This would be a great feature for mine.
