Thoughts: .Me Extension

What are your thoughts on the .Me domain extension? Do you own a .Me? Do you visit a site that uses the .Me? Have you even seen a site with a .Me domain extension?
 
formspring.me uses it. I don't think it's especially useful, maybe for personal sites. I also use fb.me to get to Facebook, if it's not bookmarked
 
formspring is the only .me I'm aware of. Not even sure what .me stands for.

It's the country code top level domain (ccTLD) for Montenegro.

Thanks for the info David 😀 Odd choice if you ask me when you boil it down.

Sure you have com - commercial and net - network and then me - Montenegro. I'd most likely shell out the money for a .co before using .me .

Consider these domain hacks: Love.ME, Share.ME, Develop.ME

You probably can't do the same with a .co: Love.Co, Share.Co, Develop.Co.

Plus, there is more chance that someone would type in the extra "m" to make it .Com, thus losing you traffic.

Because you usually are right lol. I'm sure when .me was first released all of those *hack* names were mass grabbed to be resold later which is I guess still why I would sit on my side of the fence.

"Windows.me" be a good name for a Windows ME support forum, but Windows ME was one of the most hated Operating System which was buggy, so most people would not like using Windows ME.

.me might be good for a two letter phrase domain like.

love.me , kick.me, kiss.me, buy.me , or some other phrases or a website about Montenegro.

I personally don't know of many .me website except for formspring.

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment 😛

But, those premium domains are actually stored in .Me's system, not being released yet. I think they mainly put them into an auction to see who ends up getting them.

The general buyer can't get two letter .Me domains. Anyway, I picked up a somewhat one word premium .Me domain, and I'm pleased with it. Just because it's a .Me, it doesn't mean you have to have a Montenegro site. Fb.me, Wp.me, ExploreTheWorldOf.Me, Go.me and Me.Me are some examples.
 
I think it could be a good blog domaim. For example TheLifeOf.ME

OR TwitchsWorld.ME
 
Never been or seen a site using the .ME extension, I think the .IT extensions are good though and look nice using the right domain. The .IT being the local domain for Italy of course.

I use Tip.it as an example for .IT but as for .ME, like I said above, never been to a site or seen a site using it, have heard of it though.
 
I agree .me is good for personal sites or sites which show that you "love yourself/self-love sites"

ex. ilike.me or Wii Avatar which are called Mii like Mii.me
