Ubuntu 12.10 feels like Ubuntu 12.04, but with a few small changes like displaying content, and search result from the internet. It also displays the picture for image files in the file search.
Ubuntu runs pretty fast on my older computer without much slow down problems unlike Windows 7 which sometimes slow down because it sometimes use a lot of RAM/Memory when I watch a YouTube video, and have other programs open at the same time.
I found the Ubuntu Software Center/Manager easy to use to remove and install programs, and search for programs which I want to install on Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 12.10 now lets you pin Web Apps like Gmail to the sidebar Launcher in Ubuntu 12.10 which seems useful for users who use a lot of web apps.
It reset all of my apache2, mysql, pgsql and specific postfix configurations even though I told it to keep my original configuration.
I keep getting Dbus errors on load time which prompts it to wait 30 seconds for a correct configuration load. It never loads, and when finally booted I notice nothing wrong.
Upgraded gedit features only load for the root account. (This can be confirmed when I only notice them when I 'gksu gedit' a text file)
While on the gedit topic, it is probably one of the most irritating of all the bugs. I mostly use gedit while I do my Ruby programming, therefore when I open a file I change the syntax highlighting to Ruby. Certain instances the script toggle will lockup when switching syntax and ALL of my opened text documents will close. The worst part is, whenever I try and open those documents in the future, NONE of them will open. They will appear, then close immediately.
Not to mention, throughout my user session, I get random messages along the lines of 'Something went wrong... would you like to submit this bug to the developers?' After getting fed up with the messages, I eventually decided that I would submit the bugs hopefully allowing them to see how often I get these messages. When it begins to send, it TOO locks up and closes then tells me that there is an error with Apport. Then it asks me if I would like to submit the bug, HA!
I don't like that Unity 2d is taken off. I used 2d on my netbooks with lesser amounts of RAM and small screens.
There are other small things, but to be honest, I won't go on because I feel sorry that I have now written well over a paragraph of how Ubuntu has made my computing experience that much more difficult. Using Ubuntu as a develeper... that's not good news for them.
Hopefully they will work out the bugs soon because, personally, Ubuntu is my tool-of-the-trade.
