Do you feel the time difference of 2017 to 1987 is as exotic as from 1987 to 1957? Of course, though, different cultures have different things going on in these time periods.

I can tell things are turning to be quite different now, compared to then. But ofcourse some things that went on then, are just being repeated. Increase of popularity to certain types of illegal drugs, partying in general, and people rioting across the country.

This thread makes me feel old. I have noticed a lot of differences of this era with the time when I was still in school. Take for instance the hair. It is common to see a woman with dyed hair to be blonde. And instead of the curlers, they now use the iron rod to make their hair straight. A balding man was a liability but now a bald head is the fashion. How I miss the good old days.

I think its great bald heads are being liberated. If only now people would stop this cruel hatred of the overweight. I mean, when will the cheap shots end (especially on TV sitcoms)?

In terms of technology, 1957-1987 vs 1987-2017 is considerably different. The rate of improvement has been almost exponential. Consider in 1957 the average computer was a tennis court sized monstrosity, in 1987 it was down to a 3 foot rectangular box and still more powerful. Though the speed had not really grown that much.
But from 1987 to 2017 computers have not only shrunk in size further (mini-towers are a thing, but also cellphones count and laptops) but the power of them is hundreds of times greater. In 2017 we have quad core chips at 3-4ghz, in 1987 it was a single core at like 16mhz. (1024 mhz = 1ghz... so 4ghz = 4096mhz. Or about 256 times greater on a single core.)

Since I mentioned cell phones above they were basically nonexistent in 57-87, but in 1987-2017? (Specifically 2003+) They became almost universal. And their capacities expanded well beyond merely answering a phone call. Most cellphones now are capable of sending texts, emails, watching videos, playing games, visiting websites, syncing with game consoles, plus so much more depending on what apps a person has installed.

Look at internet speeds. In 1987 it was dialup with maybe 28kbps at most. In 2017 it's not uncommon to see 100mbps or 150mbps. (Again, a massive upgrade which happened very quickly around 2004-6.)
Of course the internet also changed our culture too. We used to get news from TV or radio (moreso radio in 57-87), but with the internet we can get news through any site online from around the world. And in some cases we hear about things as they happened. Anyone remember Charlie Hebdo or the recent London attacks how quickly news of it spread? I mean like within minutes we knew. In the past we'd have to wait hours or even days to know something big had happened in another part of the country/world.
Also the internet/Technology gave us new ways to consume media... when we wanted it. Not when cable companies decided they wanted us to. If we wanted to watch the latest episode of Walking Dead (and we had a DVR) then we could record it automatically and watch it on our schedule. Or if it was available online from AMC (or Netflix) then we could watch it then. And we wouldn't be restricted to just on our TV... if we wanted to we could watch it on our cellphones or computers. Not to mention new avenues like youtube.

Time...........
i think its not a word its a power and some one who start running with this they never feel that something escaped by him.
its only a time and that is also a time but the diff is human thinking that makes him happy or sad
because time has a nature to change every moment so
"you live your time and some one got this is living their if you think to "see a women with dyed hair " after some time who have black and silky type feel the same ..
so accept waht it is.

Regarding US culture I'd like to think 50s kids seemed weirder to 80s kids than 80s kids seem to today's kids, but I could be wrong.
