I've seen a lot of people's reviews and I found that a lot are having grammar mistakes. I've did some little research with Google and found this site: http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/

This site will check both Spelling and Grammar for you. Also if will give you more powerful words for you instead of those lame and wimpy words..

So like the official FP reviews?

Anyone actually take the time to check the avg length of a review? They are huge, no wonder why they make some mistakes.

For example.

Your Quick Review

Pros:

From what I can see, no offence, but there aren't any major Pro's for your forum. I noticed on your menu, the text looks pretty cool, with the line underneath it. Also as I looked down the page, and your New Topic/Post icon's are very nice, they are simple as well, which is good. Also, the Button Ad picture, for when there are none to display, is pretty good, as it blends well with theme, keeping the original colour scheme.

Cons:

For starters, that Halloween banner is very bad. You can tell it is bad, because (a) It doesn't even blend in with the header and (b) The text and gradient used is really bad on the eyes. I looked at your menu, nice graphics as stated, but you cant even tell it is a menu, it looks like a bunch of pictures lined up, there is nothing to define it as a menu, no border, no background, nothing.

Next thing, the menu of the left must go, people will want to go to your forum to advertise, not see who has the most posts, or to search inside the forum. Also I looked at your description's of your forums, and I am sorry to say but you have pretty much copied every one of FP's description, nearly copying a whole category, except for some ordering of forums.

The style, no one likes a default style, unless they were the creator of it, in that case they would most likely love it. You definitely need a new style, I would suggest a light style, maybe a bit dark, but not Black or Burgundy, as they wouldn't suit your type of forum. Also at the bottom of your page, you have some bad looking Your ad Here buttons, the gradient is awful, and the text is also awful.

Final/General Thoughts:

Not a very good forum, could do with some great improving, also try and make more original than it is at the moment, like making your own description's, which shouldn't be hard.

What was most liked about the website/forums:

I liked the menu text, with the line underneath it, as it was very easy to read, and also the New Topic/Post icons, which were pretty simple and cool.

What was disliked most about the website/forums:

The copying of descriptions, the banner, which was very bad on the eyes, the definition of the menu (of which there is none) and also the style, which was default.

Final Score : 4 - (Out of 10)

Some Useful links, here at forum promotion, you may want to look at. All for the better of your forum's activity.

And that one is pretty short compared to all the others...

I used the spell checker and found like 2 grammar mistakes, and the only spelling ones were because in Australia we spell differently to America

I forget to mention about that. The Review Team at here does long reviews (The one I used as a example has over 400 words) so I see nothing wrong with making some mistakes. Like I said we are humans, we make mistakes

Yes, also we are doing these for free, or for very little, and also we are human. The aim of the review is to tell you something about your website/forum, as long as you know what we are saying, there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for sharing that with us TertianJoint, it looks like a good resource that many people will find useful. I've tested it myself and it came up with helpful grammar and thesaurus suggestions.

Having spell check enabled in your browser is also very useful. It shows me plenty of typo errors that I correct before posting.

Well what is wrong with them, seriously, they are fine?
:great:

What annoys me more than a lack of punctuation is when people overpunctuate, and put in commas where they aren't needed, and then fail to put them where they need to be. It doesn't come down to any sort of intelligence level - they're basic skills which you should learn at school, so laziness is the reason. If English is your first language, don't make excuses.

Nice resource, by the way.

Guys, I think the topic creator might have been referring to not the review itself, but the fact that people are having spelling errors on THEIR forum that we mention in the review. That's how I took it.

I am not making excuses, I at least try to write proper English when posting, unlike most people.

If we can read the reviews then thats all that matters! (for me anyway) 😛

Let us also not forget it should be I did some research, or I've done a little research. :great:

Well, it's not as if the reviews are just utter pieces of rubbish. The reviewers are human and they do make mistakes. I haven't seen many reviews that are flawless in grammar, but they still get the message across, which I guess is the most important thing.

Not that double checking for grammar for mistakes is a bad idea...
