Do you tip? If you do, when and how much? If not, why not?

I usually always tip waiters, delievery drivers and porters if they are good.

If I had the extra cash yeah!!! but nope. Last time I did that was about year or so. However when I do go out to have an meal with people and family that we also give them an tip that we enjoyed. tips aren't much that we give.

Some days ago we did eat out in I very nice restaurant in Edinburgh and what I like about it that when we payed the bill they are asking us very nicely that they are doing support Donations and they are adding £4 to each of the bills and we had an choice to do it or not but we did

I normally tip wait staff and delievery drivers well. Depending on the level of service, I normally leave a tip that is about 20-30% of the tab.

Only at restaurants, but I get tipped often at work (I'm a Field Technician for a wireless ISP) which always seemed a bit odd to me.

I am not going to look at the total and figure out a percentage of that, I'll tip whatever I feel like at the moment. Could be a couple dollars, could be a $5 or $10 if they were good.

Interesting 😀 I occassionally tip services- bus drivers, mechanics etc. if they are friendly.

I forgot to add that when we shop in boring supermarkets that there are allot of jars and whatnot hat you can also tip the staff 🙂 mostly independent shops

I tip all the time. Not just in restaurants and stuff either 😛

Even when I pay people online if they do an awesome job or I like their work, I tip them 🙂 Sometimes very generously. :O

We don't tip in Ireland either. Maybe something small if the wait staff were excellent. Service charge is included in your food and wait staff are paid upwards of national minimum wage. I used to work as a waitress in college and we would get a small tip from most people in the region of 2-5 euros. That went into a jar to be divided among staff at the end of the night.

It can get a little confusing abroad though. When I was in Czech on holidays, the waiters added their 10% service charge onto the bill in most places because we were foreigners. Definitely found that easier than worrying about what you're supposed to give them XD.

It depends on the service , I would tip at waiting staff if the service and food was good also maybe tip the taxi driver

It depends. If the service is good I will tip them. If the service is horrible and we have to wait forever for the food to arrive than I won't tip them and sometimes ask to talk to the manager.

How come?

Why do you end that with a smile face?

Because the tip is already included in the bill we pay. Waiters don't depend on tips, they get paid a fixed amount of money per hour. If we do tip, like rounding up a bill, it just goes to the restaurant and not the waiter. We also typically don't have just 1 waiter (if it's a big restaurant). It's just whoever sees work at our table that comes so in that situation, tipping would get a bit hard.

🙂

That sounds mighty lame. Glad I am not a waiter in your area.
