Tipping

That sounds mighty lame. Glad I am not a waiter in your area.
You earn more that way though. Working in hotels/restaurants/bars pays VERY well. I worked at restaurants when I was in school and I made lots of money only working weekends.

So if it's okay for you, I don't think it's mighty lame. I think tipping is.

Each country is different, if you was an chef you get paid more then a cook. Time you earn your days money it goes again for gas, car, traveling, food, bills..

I doubt it. When you get tips, you can earn a weeks pay in one night if your customers are feeling generous.
So your luck depends on your customers. And in this economy people are very generous I imagine.

I need to pay gas, car, travelling, food and bills too and I ain't no chef or cook. What's your point?

Point is that seems each country doesn't allow tips or does but doesn't do it

For anyone to expect a tip is rude but we do often tip takeaway delivery drivers and if out having a meal, or if rarely getting a taxi etc ...but that all depends on the person if they seem greedy or not..most don't but surprisingly some act overly greedy!

Yeah, I always tip. To calculate it I simply double the tax, since where I live our tax rates are super high. The current sales tax is 8.75%, so doubling it works out to just less than 18%. If the service wasn't so good then I'll just leave whatever the tax was equal to, and if the service was poor, I'll leave even less (although that rarely happens).

I've heard that tipping is only expected here in the United States. I always tip when I eat out at a restaurant. If I ever get less than satisfactory service I always go out of my way to let a manager know. I eat it out so rarely that I expect good service and I like to tip generously when I get particularly good service. For example a meal that totals $50 I don't mind tipping $10-15 if we get really good service. However, if I find myself having to ask for things multiple times during the meal (refill on a drink, extra napkins, etc) or if the wait is particularly long the amount I tip decreases.

Here in the UK, no one expects a tip. Maybe because I don't live in London.

I wonder how many restaurant staff have been written up and/or fired because of the complaints that you "go out of your way" to make against them. 😱

I don't tip that amount, I only tip like the max of $5 in coins.

I wouldn't know. If wait staff is that miserable though they need a wake up call, get your act together or find a new job. Less than satisfactory service is like intentional slamming of dishes when it's evident they are in a bad mood or spilling food/drinks multiple times without any attempts of cleaning it up while serving your food..or having to ask for a refill of a drink three times before getting it, or asking for something you ordered repeatedly etc.

£10 is the most, I usually tip someone.

I rarely tip more than that. However, if I'm in a party of multiple people and we stay more than an hour I don't mind tipping more because I know that the waiter/waitress could have missed out on another party during that time.

I agree that at a lot of places some staff seem overly greedy for not providing an amazing service and then expecting a tip. I think its rude if you can but don't tip excellent service but again it should actually be excellent 😛 I usually leave 10%
