and I'm looking for some tips and I still haven't given up on it
and it'll be 4 months old tomorrow and it has 760 posts or something like that so far...
Better domain! Try co.cc or .tk or something. Better buy a cheap .info (really cheap now).
Gratz on the post-count 🙂 Mine is still fresh (also a gaming forum, http://ShareYourExp.info)
You need a .com it's just how it is, You shouldn't make a website without having a way to buy stuff.. You won't last without spending money into a gaming website. Sorry but it's the complete truth. I'v put a lot of $$$ into all of my gaming websites but nothing caps what I am currently / did spend on WRT.
Second, Paid hosting and vBulletin / IPB. You must get one of these NOT vBulletin 4.0 though. Why? because this is what your users you will get are used to.
Thirdly, A custom design / homepage. To fully last in the ever growing gaming website tree, You must make a face for yourself. The only way to do this is to get a custom & unique look that people will NOT forget.
This all costs tons of money but if your serious about getting members & making an active / known website these are the steps that every successful gaming website has taken.
Ok, that's fine, But my other points is what you NEED if your truly serious about this website/forum. And No one flame me saying you don't need a TLD for this or a custom theme, Ok to all you flamers.. Make a website without a custom theme/TLD in the genre of gaming and let me know when it hits even 10k of members.
I have set up http://pegaming.net and before we got the .net(which i bought) no one was interested in us. I have spent so much on this site and its paying off now tho. We are climbing the ranks thanks to me. Im not the owner, but it was a failing website and i had to help 😛
Get a domain and advertise. Try to be professional and unique. Think of new ideas and features that don't exist in other gaming forums. Give users a reason why they should choose you among all the gaming forums. 🙂
I hope everyone realises that the OP is banned. Also it's the second time he's been banned. He doesn't listen to what people suggest for his forum even when he asks for people's opinions.
For him I hope that PayPal Limited Access issue is genuine and that he hasn't just fallen for a scam email and gone through the links in the email.
