Tips for studying for Tech Certification like Comptia A+

I'm currently studying for the Comptia A+ cert.

I just been reading Computer Maintenance books about fixing computers with Win XP and 2000 OS.
I also been volunteering at a place where they fix computers for the needy.

It is the first time I had to study for something at home by myself for a certification.

Are there any people here that can help give me tips on studying for the Comptia A+ cert exam or general cert. study tips?
