Ok, I am having a problem getting members to post. We probably have 500 real posts and 600 posts because of exchanges. How do I get other members to post?

Add interesting topics that revolve around gaming, add a few posting competitions were they need to succeed to a maximum of say 100 posts to gain this such and such prize. Think of what made you want to post as much posts on FP, was it the design or the member activity that way you need to promote more. Just think of simple things which made you make 1,500 post's here and think upon small things to make that happen with your forum.

I would also say topics, but topics that ask questions. Even if the reply is a few words, its a start. 1 topic should get around 10 replies if the question is good. If you make 100 topics, that means another 1000 posts. Of course this is just a rough figure, but its about ways of getting people to reply, and one way is to ask questions.

Thanks, David! How do you think up 100 topics, though?

Well, this is your forum. You are meant to be the expert in that genre, so I would talk about possibly improvements in games. Have a few topics like "GTA has this and this right now, what would you prefer to have seen, or added etc.?".

Good suggestion. I actually didn't think of topics about improvements, not sure why. Others?

I definitely suggests you to post hot and interesting topics regarding your niche. You can also add more sections on your forums regarding graphics, gaming, entertainment and such.

This way, your members might get motivation to posts more on your forum.

Having an incentive to post is a big thing. Offer $ for a posting contest or such! Having something unique is also a key.

You could also encourage members to post by adding a points/cash system on your forums, and that way people will go "Oh wow, I wonder what I can get if I start posting?".

Having a marketplace can also have a impact, I'm trialing a setup at the moment for a marketplace which is a mini forum version of eBay, only for forum members to buy and sell stuff.

Yep, have interesting topics that people will feel they want to reply to and post contests. Good luck! 😀

Add some interesting topics rather than normal, boring ones. Because your post exchangers will post in the boring ones so try and have some really interesting ones too. 🙂

Maybe have a posting competition? They don't always work but if someone really likes your forum they might stay and be an active member after the competition. 🙂

Good luck with your forum. :great:

Write some brief opinion articles about stuff in the genre and post them up for discussion. That can usually get people talking.
