Tips: Keep your Machine Clean!

Today I've decided to share my techniques to keeping my computer clean. This is only for Windows by the way. Although I'm not on Windows I'll still share what I used to do. In the past months ago I used to get a ton of viruses and bosds and all that sorts of trash. Just use my tips and I can guarantee that won't happen to you again. 😛

Tip #1: Update your Anti-Virus often!
Tip #2: Clean with CCleaner once a week
Tip #3: Keep up to date with Microsoft Updates (Although don't update too often your computer might not be able to handle/compatible with the updates.
Tip #4: Run a Quick Scan once a week
Tip #5: Run a Full Scan the following week
Tip #6: Scan with Malware Bytes once a week & following week a full scan
Tip #7: Limit yourself to the sites you visit, if you browse the web daily like there is no tomorrow stop you may end up getting a bad virus that way.

So overall, keep up to date with your anti-virus, run ccleaner once a week, and avoid visiting too many sites. Like what I do everyday the only sites I visit are the ones linked on FP and on the forum I work on.

I hope these tips help you! It surely helped me. If I keep this up it feels like I'll have my computer for the rest of my life. :lol:

Tip #7 is inaccurate.

I browse the web like there is no tomorrow and my computer has never been infected with anything. And it's because I am careful with my browsing. You can browse as much as you want you just should be careful.

I just wanted to add: Don't download random stuff from YouTube because they are most likely going to be viruses unless they show you a virus scan report.

Tip 7 depends. It depends what you search. I search a lot and i don't get many viruses but another possibility could be that the viruses went past my Av without it noticing.

You're right. But, if you have AVG it can install a web toolbar that scans links for viruses before you even click them. I'd recommend getting and then you can surf the web like theres no tomorrow. 😀

Thats what i got. Its quite good. AVG blocked a few viruses for me and it found a few trojans but its still not the best AV.

Yeah I mean the majority of viruses are spread through user stupidity so just knowing a few things keeps you safe most of the time.

That dosn't prevent people from FP or from anywhere to add an iframe of an infected site and get you infected too , right?
Also , there are viruses that are undetectable so not much of the tips help.

I would like to add Advanced System Care to the list of helpful tools.

I have been using it for years and install it on all my Windows computers. A little while ago I bought a new computer and after about a week it started slowing down. I work it hard and can't even guess how many different websites I visit per day.

So I ran all the tools that came installed from the factory and it made little difference. I installed and ran the tools Advanced System Care offers and it was as good as new again.

Yes I have used it too Brian. I would absolutely recommend it. I don't have it anymore though since I'm not on Windows.

Yeah and also ESET has a built in "warning" system about an infected website.

I'm not using it any more ether for the same reason Gamepro.

I had fun testing out other operating systems but when I decided to wipe my hard drive clean and do a dual boot install with Windows and Ubuntu my recovery disks wouldn't work any more lol I don't mind though, Linux rocks.

I use ESET Smart Security 4 Business Edition myself. Given to me free so why not. I have never had any issue nor slowness.

The Best Free AV's are AVAST, MSE and AVIRA.

Stay away from AVG its crap. Your PC will thank you later. Cheers!

I use Ccleaner, Easycleaner, Revo Uninstaller, MyDefrag, and SAS portable.

I did use Advanced System Care but no longer trust them as there not on Snapfiles.com

Anything on Snapfiles is safe. It's there policy. A great place for free tools.
