I have made some graphics for my site that fall under these categories and I was wondering if there were any tips/tricks in making a nice looking graphic?
Well, as someone with an eye for design, you should keep it simple and clean but still try and grab the viewer's attention. It would also help to have your signature image tell of what your site/forum is about, which may take their attention more. Example: my sig image and Empire's.
For font's sake, limit your typefaces. Remix this design
Don't be scared of scale
Respect the space of other elements
Be clever with your colors
Clean, crisp, clear
Fonts have feelings too
Create order with alignment
Keep it simple
