I don't get very many comments on my blog so it kind of appears dead. Do you have any tips for getting visitors to leave comments? I try to end most of my posts with questions to encourage comments.

How much targeted traffic is coming in? Where is it coming from? Have you thought of incentives to get people to comment? Well, sometimes you don't need one - if the traffic is targeted well enough. I mean, on my drumming Facebook group - a handful will just start commenting.

Well, actually, in real life - certain people just like talking - for good or maybe bad LOL.

One thing I found that often helps is to visit other blogs and comment. Most often people return the favor.

If your blog is interesting then it will be read. And if your blog has something controversial then there will be comments. Being controversial is not literally putting in controversial issues but something that arouses the interest of the reader. An example is a question about how to determine cyber bullying.

PS. I am experimenting this method with my Facebook account. Whenever I would post something that is out of this world that would surely get a lot of reactions. But when I post a serious item then it's fortunate to get 5 comments.

Focus on interesting topics which offers great deal of information to your readers, then I'm absolutely sure that they would leave a comment always.

The use of questions at the end of your thread is also a good idea.

There are plenty of people who post stuff without being bribed. If you can reach them thru social networking and - as others have said, make good stuff, then you're golden.

make them to read and feel that they have to comment 😛

In order to make visitors leave comment on your blogs, your blogs should be useful and interesting. However, in most cases even if the blog is useful and interesting people do not leave comments. People are running from one website to another and they just do not have time. If you still want comments, you can start paid commenting offer on forums or post exchange sites.

Correct. Social media platforms are the most viable means to harness lots of people who can willingly visit and comment on your blog as long as they find your niche interesting.

It helps if you say "I'd appreciate your opinion on my blog post". I have seen many people commenting in such case. Also giving some sort of incentive also helps.

This is actually a pretty good idea as well. It will entice them to try as much as possible to offer in new comments and replies to the blogs threads.

People love being appreciated, so it's definitely going to make them want to be appreciated more by posting more on the blog.

Hello Jerlene,

I think @Jason76 is absolutely right. You should check your source of traffic. Another important thing is you need to make sure that your blog is useful and interesting enough for the visitors.
