Tired of argumentative people

I'm not a big fan of argumentative people, in real life or online. I don't mind exchanging opinions on a topic and not everyone is going to share my opinion (and I'm OK with that). But, if I don't agree with someone's point of view, I don't really want to engage in a heated battle with the other person when they try to prove their point. There's a time and place for debate and some topics are just not worth it. As a forum owner and staff member, I've seen all kinds though. Some people just like being right and if you disagree even a little, they get very offended and try to start a war. And, the entire time, I'm like, "Simmer down! We're just talking here!" Maybe this is just one of the hazards of the job.

It's sad, really. People think that when we disagree with their opinions they disagree with the person having them. They attach their opinions to their identity and as a result they get angry. I agree that argumentative people can be a total nuisance. If any discourse arises, it'd be in their best interest to keep the argument casual.
