When I first looked into blog names, as always I checked if the .co.uk was available. It was so I went ahead opened the free wordpress one, to only now find it was apparently registered back in february, 4 months before I looked at it?. As I see it now I have two options, change the name slightly or use a .net TLD.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated as always.

I think if you went with the .net domain name, it would do your site wonders. It's better on SEO, and for people to remember 🙂

I was looking at .co.uk over . Net as its about £5 cheaper per year for .co.uk but looks like .net it is

Not necessarily.

If Garfiun's blog is a British based blog and British internet users are his main target audience the .co.uk is better for SEO. Everything is relative 😉

Having a .net domain worked fine for Forum Promotion, it's not as good as a .com, but don't let that demotivate you or shake your belief in your project.

I don't mind having .net though. The person with the .co.uk also owns the .com and he has bought them for a business he wants to start, so doesn't look like I will be able to buy them either.

I would go with the .net myself. As others say, it's good for SEO and would probably do wonders with gaining traffic.
