Tobacco

Simply no...

It is time we stop blaiming addictions, advertisements, etc. It is so easy to point the finger at someone else. Admit that you yourself decided you wanted to try tobacco and you became addicted to it.

It reminds me of those people who sued McDonalds because it made them FAT. Excuse me, have McDonalds ever hid the fact that their FRIED FOODS and GREASY HAMBURGERS were HEALTHY? NO!!! Common sense people!

Things like this annoy me. People really do need to learn self-control.

^ I agree with the above post.

If you decided to smoke then thats your problem.

yeah. you chose to smoke so its your problem. however, i think tobacco companies need to be shut down. imagine if someone came out with a snack made out of arsenic, cyanide, and other poisons. people would say how could you put rat poison in our food. well thats what they do with cigs. i think they basically get away with murder. its almost like assisted suicide if you really think about it.

Ask McDonalds 😛

@OP, the tobacco companies have already been sued, and some time ago. People know the risks of smoking, and in europe each package of cigs has a label saying "smoking kills" or something else like that.

You can't shut down a multi Billion dollar industry 😉

mcdonalds and rat poison no, but other unhealthy and cancerous preservatives, yes. and cigs have a warning here. but letting them stay open is pure ignorance. your letting more people die by letting a company that hands out hundreds of poisons continue to operate. studies show if you dont start smoking by 19, odds are you never will. cig companies aim their campaigns at a very young audience, which is even worse.

It is bad that they do that, but this is America. People can do what they want to their own bodies. Smoking companies should be regulated more often, that I agree with you gqgk, but not shut down.

people cannot do what they want to their own bodies without legal consequences. by law your body basically belongs to the US. you cant smoke weed, do crack, or try to jump off a bridge. but they need to be shut down. if they handed out the cigs without the tobacco it'd be nicotine and poison, and they wouldnt even have been allowed to open anyway

Tobacco companies are disgusting. I agree with gqgk. Shut them down, if you want a cigarette, grow it yourself.

at least it'd be healthier (even though still dangerous)

I don't think Tobacco companies should be sued. I don't like smoking, think it smells awful and wouldn't do it myself. However why should I stop others doing it if they are desperate?

People are responsible for their own actions so if they choose to smoke they can. They know the consequences.

Plus sueing the companies wouldn't work as Tobacco is legal.

Me too! Tobacco Company are friendly. I do agree with the first 2nd post. If they do tobacco, it's their own responsibility to take care of his/her body. But tobacco company need to at least lay off with the whole camel... WTF

I agree. :great:

Now that smokes have been properly labeled to make you aware of the risks, I dont feel people have the right to sue for using them. Back in the day when the doctor smoked while prescribing you antibiotics for a splinter, and the tobacco companies didn't warn of ANY risks, sure maybe. But then again, does it really take that much brain power to figure out that inhaling something into your lungs cant be good? Seems common sense to me, warnings or not.

You're right!

We're going to have to shut down civilization.

Ready?

I believe these tobacco companies aren't worth sueing. But they are worth being bombed. Mass murderers.

I heard a few people say it's people's personal choices. Yet we all fall vulnerable at some point in our lives in today's society. Particularly teenagers. And it's not a choice made every day on one significant level, the biological level. It's one choice, and I made mine 3 years ago.

No. That would be stupid. The tobacco industry didn't hold a gun to your head and force you to smoke. You weren't held against your will and forced to go through each pack. You made the choice to smoke, therefore making the choice to accept any risk involved with smoking.

That is like wanting to sue the condom company because you got pregnant while using them with your partner. You knew that they weren't 100% effective, and that there was still a risk of pregnancy, yet, you still had sex knowing this information.

I got a splinter. I'm suing every logging company in the United States.
