Idk if this topic is posted on here or not but anyways I see a lot of webmaster forums on these days as a niche I feel its pretty good one for advertising and business entrepreneurs. But I tend to see a lot of them more nowadays 2019-2020 then back in 2016 when I first started using FP and being into the Webmaster world.

Tends to happen from time to time. You wouldn't believe how many Harry Potter RPGs were made over the years, while the movies were being put out frequently.

Like back in the day there were dozens of "forum promotion" forums and now.... only one survived.

They rise, and most fall. It's part of the gamble we take as webmasters. Throwing it out there and seeing if it sticks.

It is more than that. You need to invest a decent amount if you need an active forum that survives for 2 + years. Even when your forum is going good and you are not able to invest more, a lot of webmasters back out.

Yet there are too many out there I see less Tech and gaming forums its mostly webmasters

There is not much competition in general webmaster niche. Most of the competition is either coding forums or online marketing forums. I have myself tried to find a place where I can ask tech questions. About WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and smaller scripts, web hosting, VPS management. There is no single reliable source at the moment. But a lot of people have identified this and tried to make one over time. Some people believe that a Xenforo license and a custom theme will make their forum survive. Sadly, it doesn't, amongst many other reasons. Bringing traffic is an art.

If you want to gamble, buy a lottery ticket.

Successful webmasters have a plan. They offer compelling and valuable content, build out a unique niche, and nurture their community through community management tactics.

Sure, but its still a gamble per se. Successful webmasters may not stay successful forever. They may never find the success they're looking for. They may have chosen a niche that people hopped onto and stole the thunder. They may not have the ability to sustain that driving force for a niche. Niches can die unpredictably.

It's not old, at the end of the day most of them tend to shut down as they do not last that long. No difference to the gaming-based site, there are so many gaming forums around. And so they might not even last 1 year. Unless you can afford it to last more than 5 years with no traffic then GG on that 😛

Or you love doing it then keep it going, but it's hard times. Not to mention they are all the same, each site does not offer something no other does offer. They do not think outside of the little box.

Every niche out there is over-saturated. It isn’t really about the niche being too many forums anymore, it’s about how can you make the forum unique and build a brand that is different from the rest? All of the promotion forums out there are trying to be just like this forum. That’s boring. They need to provide something different that no one else is doing but is innovative.

Mythoughts at least!

Saturation is definitely the thing but the webmaster forums should discuss tech niche, code and also the revenue aspect. Most webmaster forums have off topic threads on top.

Personally, I would say that there’s a lot less webmaster forums now then there was a few years ago, especially if you were to consider the promotion/advertising forums to be part of that niche. If I were to look back at really old advertisement topics here at FP, I can assure you there were all kinds of webmaster/admin/advertising forums being created on a daily basis.

Even back in 2014 I seen so much then, but now they are no longer lol

Yet glad to see that FP are still going strong

Considering stackoverflow is nothing but elitist cesspool with SJW drama. I think there is definitely a gap to fill in this sector but too much risk.

In 2008, the stackoverflow was not around to dominate. Now that it is so less people go to forums.

I remember when I was part of the Package Team and things were going great so I opened like 2 promotion forums, one on a free hosting site with a subdomain and another one with a .info, one failed the other is I think still alive somewhere.
It's a trend but there are a few quality forums that survive in this genre.
