what are the top 5 Webhost ?
proboards ? mybb? its been a while for me been out of forums since 2017

Free hosts usually aren't used as much as self hosting these days. Though there's been a few forums hosted on Forumotion that people have promoted here. As for free software, MyBB is quite outdated and I feel like SMF and phpBB are the top free forum software. Jcink is my personal favorite free host.

I use Jcink, which is non-self-hosted, but the nice thing about Jcink is you can download your database in case you ever want to move to self-hosted.

what do u mean non self hosted i am trying understand on this. ive used proboards for years but i am a little open minded now.

Proboards is also non self hosted like Jcink. It means you don't have full control of your forum, and if you wanted to move you couldn't move to self hosting on Proboards at least. Jcink does allow you to make a database back up so if you ever want to move to self hosting you can.

Yeah pbs doesnt which stinks but they are both free but i am trying to grow into a big commnity so i want make the best decision and chose the best one which license is better i seen several different ones from cloud to other ones on xeneforo

Self-Hosted: Hosted on your server with full server-side access.

Non-Self-Hosted: Hosted on the software's servers with no server-side access.

If you're new to forums, I would perhaps start on a free service and you can build up from there. Preferably a service that allows you to download your database or convert to a different software.

At this time, Xenforo is one of the most popular forum software, I think.

You can compare to see what's right for you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software
