Top sites, afiliates ect???

Will top sites and affiliate sites really help my forum grow at all?

From what I have seen, these things all do a small amount. About 65% of our members found us through Google, and the rest of it seems to trickle in through a variety of smaller ways. Affiliates, ads, topsites, etc. it all ads up and it's all free so it can't hurt. Just make sure that whatever your ad promises, your site delivers.

I think that topsites do work, I have signed my forums up and they do give you a reasonable amount of traffic.
I also like trying to make everyone's forums bigger, hence my blog on promotion and my topsites - so I think that you should give them a try. What have you got to lose mate?

They do help if the page they're coming from is of high value. Having backlinks from good pages helps you to rank better on search engines which = more visitors.

I think the more boards network with each other the more members they'll all get. Forums miss out on a lot of potential members for the plain old reason that those people just don't find them. I know because had I run across the board I currently run, a year before, I would've joined in an instant.
