I think it depends on the carrier. Like I think you can transfer like Verizon Wireless to Sprint but I'm not sure on other things. Whenever I switched carriers I just got a new number but they always asked if I wanted to keep the same number...hmm..maybe it is possible.
Try calling or going up to the store and ask. I'm sure they know better than me, haha.
