Liverpool have confirmed that Andy Carroll has signed for the club from Newcastle on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a club-record fee reported to be £35m. And all the Newcastle fans that bought a club calender at the beginning of the year get a nice picture of Carroll when they turn to February tomorrow.
Apparently Fernando Torres and David Luiz both signed for Chelsea in time to beat the deadline... no official word from the club just yet, though...
What are you on about? 50 million is a bargain price for arguably (on his day) the best striker in the world. Ronaldo went for £30 million MORE. Besides, if Carrol is worth 35 million then we got Torres on sale 😛
Only because he's had injuries. If you look at the goals scored in the games he actually had in the last 2 seasons you'll see the ratio is better than 1 goal every 2 games so yes he is worth the money.
Andy Carroll didn't play tonight against us......bloody good job too we were dire!
In the scheme of things it is silly money for a football player, the wages now are ridiculous too!
There was massive hype on The Oatcake that Stoke were in for a turbulent week from an inside source.......nothing came of it! We sold Tuncay to a German side, Eidur Gudjohnsun to Fulham and signed Jermaine Pennant on a full contract and got Jon Carew, that was it ????
There was talk of Ricardo Fuller going but thank god he didn't 🙁
£50m for Torres is way over the top, Liverpool are laughing all the way to the bank, Chelsea have actually bought Carroll and Suarez for the scousers.
Why is £50m too much for Torres, well as a striker he has never really lit up the Premier League, he's never been the top scorer, he hasn't won anything while at Liverpool, not even a raffle, Chelsea needed a striker who wasn't ECL tied, and Torres fitted the bill, he will find himself on the bench or on the wing when dogbreath a proven top goalscorer is fit.
As for Carroll he hasn't even had one good season, and has gone from one mediocre mid table team to another, Liverpool may have bought two players, but in all honesty they need another 3 or 4 to make them CL challengers again.
How can Liverpool be laughing to the bank when they spent 70% of the money on a player that hasn't even had a proper season yet. Chelsea are the winners in this transfer. Torres will play WITH Drogba. Obviously know nothing about Chelsea if you think he will be on the bench.
