Trespassers...or more commonly refferred to as ban evaders....


I got two and I'm running out of ideas. We have banned and firewalled more proxies than I can count for two people mostly for flooding the forum with incompetent back and forth banter more reminisant of IM sessions, as well as pestering of site administrators for some minor nuance they want updated before it's appropriate time as stated by the site section suggestion rules. It's gotten so bad we litterally had to lock down out spam forum for now a forth time, yall know the kind, the forums specifically for that kind of crap because these two can't limit them selves to less than a hundred posts a day.


I need some suggestions, any one got a couple?

Most forum owners would have to ban half their forum if they banned for those reasons. :lol:

Anyways, just keep fighting them off until they give up.. Thats about all you can do. There is unlimited amounts of proxies out there or people can get to different computers easily.

Lets hope they dont do an Oliver, and be persistent, just keep banning them, until they give up, they will eventually but hey, make a forum that no one can see, not even you, and move all their posts their, free post count 😀

I know what you are saying with that but....a few hundred posts in a matter of hours is innappropriate no matter what forum one is on. One of these two has literally been banned over a hundred times for various policy violations the majority of them what you would call legitimate. She's like rubbermade...you hit her with a truck and she bounces right back.

Her and her little friend litterally delayed the release of the main site V-3.2 update almost two months with their antics requiring site staff attention and administrative action.

lol, interesting Idea, but that would take a lot of work on phpbb2. I'll keep it mind though.

Actually we are already planning on upgrading, but there are so many thing in the works that the DEV team can't get done...upgrade to phpbb3 is amung them. 🙁

That may be, but sadly unlike many I am seeing here, I'm not the owner of the sites. I do not have access to the server, I have to wait untill the owner of the site or the developers get around to it. I'm basically just a moderator with a little more internal access who was asked to figure out some promoting. My hands are tied so to speak.

I'm not sure if there is a PHPBB equivalent but some forum software has a mod called something like "send user to Coventry". When you use the Mod to send a member to Coventry they can keep posting and see their own posts. However, no one else can see their posts and after a while they leave because they are fed up being ignored. Something like that might work for you.

I think I've heard of something like this. When I had a forum, we had one troublesome member, and my co-administrator and I at the time were talking about some ways to stop this person. He at one point said something how he wished there was a mod so that the person can see his own posts. Maybe this mod was what my administrator at the time was refering to?

That sounds like an interesting Idea, I'll have to do some research.

No, I'm banning people for ban evasion. Their ban reasons include user harrassment, innappropriate forum postings (Homosexual pornographic Imagery, Goatzie imagery) and a few others all clearly stated in the site policy. They are retaliating with their annoying behaivior.
