Lately, I had a good troll attack from another online community I had been on and left and had requested a permanent ban from. I had apparently “insulted” their staff, (had publicly called them out on their shitty administration). So yeah, here’s my stance on trolling and I’ll be giving you admins and webmasters tips on how to not let them bother you at all.

Trolling is immature and childish and just amuses me to no end. So to all who had endeavored themselves to troll me, you hadn’t succeeded at having a slightest feeling or reaction from me at all. The current I’m completely at peace and feel nothing for ya all? I just don’t really care much offline or online tbh. I don’t care much about people or things irl, so why should I mind people on the internet? I find it lulzy and lolsome that you’d take the hassle to actually troll me. You’re actually the one offended by my behavior and I’m not. Lol! So it’s on you all and not me.

Tips for how to cope with trolls : remind yourself this : “Whats happening in the cyber world doesn’t count irl”. Don’t let it affect your mood at all. Don’t show that you care either way. I’m an experienced global mod and admin over time. If I had cared about every ongoing on the web, then I’d have died from worry no? So yeah, just don’t give a damn about them, ban their ip, username and email from your site, block them if you could. I had blocked them all on my blog so I don’t even have to read their comments at all. Don’t be phased at all by them. Try making a clear line between what’s going on in your actual real life and online, is my advice to all webmasters and admins.

It's hard to say what a troll is sometimes. For instance, one I know drifts between sounding normal and being a heckler of sorts. Anyway, I guess that's one strategy of a troll!

I don't know the situation here, but a lot of the time when I see that, it usually winds up being a teenage admin. Now, I have nothing against teenagers in particular, but I know enough to keep them away from the reins of any real site as they are train-wrecks.

I just saw a few big example of that this week, including ones who were on this very site, of course I can't name names for some very obvious reasons. There are a lot of biological reasons for this like hormones spiralling out of control and what-not, yadayada. Again, maybe they're grand people, but I don't like ticking time bombs.

I'd love to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I really do have limits to the number of train-wrecks I want to deal with. You're not going to be seeing Cameron having a mental break-down and deleting half the site or wailing like a banshee because someone annoyed him.

A lot of it stems from them seeing things as more of a game than a hobby or a business. They hire like 10 moderators on a site with next to no activity simply to play a game of make-belief and to inflate their own importance and these moderators in turn run rampant.

For me, I actually want to have as few moderators as possible, preferably none.
Moderators are very difficult to manage, particularly incompetent ones who are just in it for the lulz and badge.

I'm not a big fan of saying that either, I was one once and and there are some competent people on FP's Team who I believe are below the ages of 16 or 18, but I have to draw a line somewhere and the way is usually to follow the money.

Even something as simple as a custom plugin, developers are worth their weight in gold and I'm not just saying that because I'm one lol

There's a saying: "Easier said than done."

Sometimes, arguments between the admin and the user spill into other places. In my case, it spilled from e-mail to Twitter. The user was trying to troll both myself and Twitter. The troll went onto lying to Twitter about how I "harassed" him, but he was doing it all weekend long, and into Tuesday. This affects my reputation online. I run a business, I don't benefit from this garbage.

Trolls were fun. NOT.
😛
If you don't ban someone every now and then, where's the fun of being a moderator? Joking lol
That's no fun, that's taken up your time dealing with them and got other better things to do like more free time in gaming with trolls 😛 But end of the day websites doesn't want any trolls.. no trolls to deal with an nice site to deal with and that case an inactive site also
