In recent light of the killing of Cecil the Lion, people are considering if trophy killing is even something that should be allowed. Is trophy killing something that should be banned and the killer be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, or is it something you would like to see continue?

Humans live off of killing animals. We kill cows so that we can have the enjoyment of eating a good steak, as opposed to eating carrots and broccoli. 😛 I don't see what's wrong with some people getting a thrill out of hunting animals. However, I can also understand a country controlling the population of their animals so that they aren't hunted to extinction.
I couldn't ever kill an animal (besides a fish) for sport and probably not even for food and I am a country boy, too!
However, I have no opinion of it. I am not for or against it.
Deer specifically, they are a problem around my parts. People hit them all the time, I've hit my fair share of them. Deer have become stupid animals due to the technological advanced of human being - it isn't their fault, it isn't ours...we just never figured out a way to live with one and other.
Hunting season in my parts is a BIG DEAL, people travel to southern Illinois to hunt, from all over. It helps control the deer population but at the same time, makes the deer go nuts and they are usually found all over the roads getting hit by cars.
It might be nice to many to not kill animals for sport, but it isn't going to happen, at least anytime soon.

The reality most people don't seem to know is most (although not all) animals that are "trophy killed" are very old and will soon die. Feel free to disagree, but the bullet from a .338 will kill a lion in an hour at maximum with decent shot placement. The alternative is for all its teeth to fall out. It would take months until it starved to death for it to die. I would personally rather die by a gun in less than an hour, instead of starving to death over the course of months.
I don't like it. Animals that are killed should be eaten. Also, when it comes to pests (roaches, rats), people should make every effort to clean homes and whatnot to discourage their growth (so they won't have to be killed).
