Do you think Donald Trump's presidency is what the Americans voted for?

How effective is his governance?

Since I am an outsider, I cant comment only on the international policy, However, My question is specific to the domestic governance.

The price of gas is way down, my grocery bill has been $20 less per week, funding illegal immigrants is lower now which means money will go to Americans in need, there is more peace between some countries because of his intervention, and we have an administration that's transparent and not hiding in a basement somewhere. Overall, I'm really happy with how things are going.

Well, here in East Texas, we have noticed the opposite. Gas is more today than it was back in January.
In fact, the EIA chart shows that on average, gas is 5 cents a gallon more now than it was in January 2025.

The pound of ground chuck that I was paying around $10 a pound for about 2 months ago now goes for $14.99 a pound.
A spiral cut ham that was around $19 is now slightly over $24. The soft drinks we buy went up also. Even the gallon bottles of distilled water (for our bipaps) went up from 99 cents to 1.23 a gallon.
Even the USDA forecast states
In 2025, prices for all food are predicted to increase 2.9 percent, with a prediction interval of 2.3 to 3.4 percent. Food-at-home prices are predicted to increase 2.2 percent, with a prediction interval of 1.4 to 3.0 percent. Food-away-from-home prices are predicted to increase 3.9 percent, with a prediction interval of 3.5 to 4.2 percent.

And no, we have not adjusted what we buy... we have not started using store brands instead of the name brand we did use. The fact is, unless one resides in an extreme outlier area, the cost of living has increased.

Now, let's not even delve into the weaponization of the Justice Department that is being done, the very thing that Our Dear Leader Trump complains about regularly. Or how about his pushing armed forces into areas to fight crime... strangely those areas are ran by a party other than what he proclaims to be and yet there are cities with higher crime rates ran by members of his proclaimed party that are being ignored for this "benefit".
Or how about how his Justice Department is ignoring long-held norms about speaking out about an ongoing investigation, instead trying to win points with Our Dear Leader by announcing it like it's a open/shut case. Yet as those "investigations" go on they either get dismissed or let die on the vine because they know there is no "meat" there other than what they got by shouting it from the roof-tops when they knew that they had nothing there.

And I've been voting Republican since I turned 18... and I'm in my 60's now. So it's not like I'm wishy-washy on which way I lean - unlike a certain President that has changed his party affiliation multiple times to benefit himself - just so happens he's found his latest batch of suckers to grift from.

As stated above, things are a lot more money, on average my grocery bill went up $150 dollars a month. What he is doing to the education system and doing away with funding is being felt hard in public schools. I am just still shocked that people voted for him.

I know of people being turned away for healthcare just because they're part of the LGBT community. He is turning everything backwards and needs to move to a rest home. I'm really surprised he hasn't turned his presidency into a reality show yet.

New Zealand postal services are stopping sending parcels to and from the US due to the tariffs so his policies are affecting everyone no matter where you live in the world. This has affected a few businesses that send stuff to and from NZ.

As a non-US citizen I can only comment on what I read in the press which tends to liken living in the US for a growing number of people to a dystopian novel. I'd like to think the reports are outliers rather than the norm because I have a lot of friends living and working there.

The UK is currently seeing record numbers of US citizens applying for British citizenship and settlement visas which must say something about the state of play. On a personal note I'm struggling to find a courier to ship a couple of items US due to Trump's tariffs which is ridiculous and will probably require me to facilitate refunds.

What would worry me right now if I did live over on the other side of the pond is Trump's attempt to install puppets into the Federal Reserve. That's playing with fire which could result in the entire US economy crashing down.

Gas hasn't gone down much at all, groceries continue to rise and don't even get me started on the terrible tariffs that are causing game consoles to go up in price instead of down! This is the first time I've ever seen game console prices go up years after being out, they always go down since the cost of making the parts for the consoles usually are decreased. Those dumb tariffs are causing electronics to go up in price. Oh and the attack on trans people and other minorities continue to rise. Yeah it's been terrible and it's going to continue to get worse.

I noticed just yesterday a German electronics manufacturer had one price on their site for the US and substantially lower prices for the rest of the world.

Something else that's being reported here in the UK is the nightmare facing business trying to sell to the US, forcing many to simply suspend all shipping indefinitely. Here's a good example of the mayhem this is causing.

I think Gizmo even mentioned that New Zealand is struggling to ship things here because of the tariffs. I'm sure other countries are too. It's really a mess currently.

I was a Trump supporter until he decided to take aim at our country and many others. I understand where he is coming from, and yes, he's looking out for his own interests. However, I think he could have worked with others before dropping the hammer on everyone.

Not sure how I feel after hearing about his involvement in the Epstein Files.

Trump's tariffs have had a profound effect on Scottish malt whisky distillers.

The 10% tariff has cost the industry millions in lost exports, production has been scaled back and jobs lost. All of this has created a huge supply glut.

Bad news for the industry but good news for malt whiskey drinkers. A large number of brands are now cheaper to buy than the blended variety. Prices have literally almost halved.

Not sure how I feel after hearing about his involvement in the Epstein Files.
I highly doubt you'll hear anything like the full extent of his involvement.

More of the same. No one went to jail for lying to the American people during COVID, deportations are weaker than Obama, and we’re still importing foreign labor and products to drive down American wages and products. Another “most important election of our lives!” - another snooze fest.
