In general on this site, for example in post exchanges, so you judge someone by their post count or by number of rep points? Personally I judge by rep points, as they mean more in my eyes.

On other sites that dont have rep, do you trust members with high post counts more than other members, or do you trust everyone the same?

You shouldnt trust anyone based on their rep or posts, you should trust them based on how they interact with people in the forum and as far as post exchanges go you should look previous exchanges they participated in to see if it was completed or not.

You can judge people by rep because if they have a really low rep then it just shows that member cannot be trusted by people.

It is always good to look at there previous post exchanges though.

Well, posts show that they are active so they have a good chance of carrying out the exchange.

Ok, that takes care of the exchange side, so how about on a other forum type, where exchanges are not carried out? Say you join a gaming site, do you immeditly form ideas about the "trusted" members based off their post count? Say members with 500+ posts you think have been there awhile, and therefore are respected by the site as a whole. I know a few sites where this seems to happen. Members with high post counts are treated like gods above other members, just because theyve been there longer...

I would base it on how they interact with other members. If they get a long with most ppl, then i would say they are somewhat trustworthy. I wouldnt base it off of posts, a lot of ppl post frequently, despite what ppl think of them. Most times its done to piss ppl off.

Well that IS true, but when joining a new forum I often dont have time to go through pages of posts to see who interacts well with others, I have to base my judgement off whats at hand, and more often than not only the post count is. Besides, you would hope the admins would delete the spam posts and the post counts would directly mirror the members activity.

Never trust anyone on the internet. They may seem like your buddy, but once they find that perfect time they will screw you over.

I would say i trust people with a higher post count. And i usually get treated better with a higher post count especially on gaming forums.

I trust people with quality, if they are able to make decent 20-30 word posts, they should become VIP's, but people who have the urge to only post small posts are lest likely to get more help than the VIP's do.

This is true but it varies. I used to be apart of a large forum that used a very well done reputation system and I remember noticing a member with 1,000+ posts but with a reputation of -7 and another member with only about 72 posts but had a reputation of 7. ~lol~

In a forum I was once a member in, I could only trust people that had positive reputation points. If I saw anyone that has a reputation status of -4, then I know this person is trouble to the community and should be banned.

Although, I can also trust people in a forum of how they interact with others.

Id look at their posts, And reputation, Post count doesnt bother me, Post quality tells me a lot.

I really don't like to judge by rep because what if someone gave you bad rep because they were banned at your site because they broke rules. Serousily, that happened to me. I got -1 from him because he made multiple accounts on my site, was caught and banned. I really don't believe that's right........ Efc2008, is there anyway you can remove that from my rep.
