hi guys, I'm planning to start a tutorial website and maybe later add a forum to it aswell.
any thoughts? ideas, comments? anything ?

Too broad. You need to focus on a niche, otherwise, trust me, you will not be able to continue. There are quite a number of tutorial websites out there, so you will need to consider if this will work.

hmmm, what about tutorials of a particular content, i mean for example only gfx tutorials or only css tuts or only html and so on. this will make it a little easy is'nt it?

I would say no to graphics and css. I can make a list of at least 15 for graphics and 25 for css. They are too common.

i just gave examples of them I would'nt do them actually because as you know I'm not great at both of them. I'm planning to write tutorials by myself(ofcourse with some help from internet) so I am thinking of script installation to server as my content/idea for the website, how do you see that?

All I am saying is that you should consider your competition. If you feel thats what you are good at, then by all means you should do it. Also, you must be dedicated

A forum would be a great addition to a tutorials site, because it would allow users to ask questions and get support on any tutorials that they need help with.

As has already been said, there is a lot of competition out there. To compete you will need a strong niche and to add value to your target market.

No, its not what we prefer, its what you can handle. I could say tutorials on a certain language (for example) but you would have no clue, even though thats a strong niche. Its what you know personally, and what you can write about.

I agree with David 100%. If you are considering between a few different languages, I'd suggest you pick the one that you enjoy writing about most. That will make it much more pleasurable for you to work on your site and increase the chances that you will stick with it over the long term.

Thank you Fergal.

Sham, start a site if you can handle all possible outcomes. Start a site that you feel you can help the world. Do you really want to make a tutorial website? You have mentioned to me countless other ideas, and now you are changing again. It shows you are not definite, or passionate about the idea.
