Since a month ago, I now have a dedicated Twitter account for my forum where I post tweets simply of some threads of interest from there, in hope to generate new traffic and hopefully, more followers. However, I've only got the one follower so far and I'm wondering if there's ways to promote the Twitter account itself so that it could get noticed more because, I don't think me making tweets all the time is going to cut it (even though I'm told that the more I tweet, the more exposure I'll get).

So... any bit of help on this please? Thanks in advance 🙂

I have 22.3K with 643 followers. Had account since 2012 and since then I always tweet and keep on tweeting. When tweeting use most important hashtags and also tag other accounts. Then the design of your account to look at also.

I don't know, I see people grow there accounts in a month that are very big and have no problems, then people like us work to hard. 😛 Follow for an follower is an no no

So, you think I'd get massive exposure if I tag the likes of Microsoft, Apple and such, than just the hashtag to do with them? I'll keep that in mind. And could you also tell me what are the most hashtags that I could use? Just a few would do, not an entire list.

I have over time. Like if I was tweeting regards an GTA for an example I tag in accounts like rock-star and maybe others that are based of from GTA.

Regards hashtags what, what are your tweets mostly about? Also I use this site https://app.dlvrit.com/ This allows you to tweet automatic with option to add hashtags.

1. Twitter is currently glitchy when it comes to follower counts. Once you get a follow, you might lose that follow just for logging out. You needed to log out for added security I feel.
2. As Empire (he's using a Christmas username, right now..) said, use hashtags as much as possible. Some folks say 3 is enough, and some infographics say that Twitter filters out tweets by how much you use the hashtags, so don't spam it up too much. I mean, like this:
"#MVC #MarvelVsCapcom #MarvelVsCapcom3 #MVC3 #UltimateMVC3 #UltimateMarvelVsCapcom3 [insert tweet here]"
Most say keep it to 3 to 4 minimum.
If you target the right people, with the right hashtag, you could be viewed in the thousands. My best tweet was close to 10k.
3. Despite what Empire said up there, do not use auto-tweet apps - Twitter is currently suspending or banning accounts that seems suspicious of spam. So, if you're using autotweeting, I would remove it. I got suspended just for removing the autotweet or similar apps, but once I appealed the ban, they understood what happened. What happened is that Twitter groups you with spammers when you autotweet a lot, and remove your autotweet app.
On top of this, Twitter is currently sunsetting the old apps system, that allowed you to connect your account to an off-site tweeting platform.

They have already got ride of allot of accounts lol I used to have like 3K followers an now just under 1K Most of my tweets are from my site (uses RSS feed) but mostly I only get one tweet a week or so, other tweets are tweets that I go live.

For me, how I got a ton of Twitter followers was through following 30 different news accounts and then always trying to be the first to reply to every news tweet so people would see my tweet first.

And do these followers know of your forum in return I take it? Maybe I should try and do this myself sometime...

The account was deleted before I began forumming.

One other thing I want to ask... if I make a tweet which contains a thread of my forum that I want to promote, does it matter what time I write it, rather than just what hashtags I use? I somehow want to write my tweets preferably later on in the afternoon from my timezone (GMT) just so that I think I get more exposure that way. Maybe it's just me that thinks of this too much.

Tweeting times doesn't matter at all, the more you tweet the better and the chance to get put there you know. As long as it has good amount of hashtags and even mention accounts. Some like to do tweet feeds of new site content every 30mins

Twitter is an interesting platform for promotion. I use it to promote my Twitch Stream. The trick to Twitter is not to overload hashtags and tagging people in a single post. Instead, only use a few at a time and make sure they are relevant to the exposure you need.

For example, when promoting my live stream, I always hashtag the two main streaming communities I am a part of as most of their users use and search for the same hashtag when looking for love streams. I’ll sometimes tag the game I’m playing to try and pick up fans of the game.

I started streaming in April of 2018 and I’m almost to 600 followers with about a rough average of 8-20 viewers per stream. I also get Twitch Raided a lot by streamers which has helped me grow.

Twitter for forums, I haven’t really tried, but I do suggest limiting hashtags and tags to things related to your forum and not overusing them meaning don’t use 12 different ones at a time.

No need to worry about that... I usually just keep to like three or four for mine, as what Carlos mentioned earlier. Also, maybe it's just me but it would've been nice if you're suggested tags based on your tweet, usually the ones currently trending to give you more exposure guaranteed instead of chancing your luck with things.

Pretty sure that’s what I said when I suggested tagging things related to their forum?

I use HootSuite and I have it automatically tweet out once every 2 hours and sometimes I will manually tweet throughout the day. I am thinking you have to be abusing the system to get put into the realm of being a spammer and meet the right criteria.

The goal with Twitter and Facebook is to reach influencers. It's kind of like how in the old days - bands needed to get signed (to record labels). Anyway, it ain't easy, of course!

Note, you could possibly get around the dilemma with non-influencer-targeted advertising - but it is often slow and/or very expensive!

I completely agree with your explanation. I only prefer to use 3-4 important hashtag related to my tweet.
