Tweets are similar to status updates in Facebook, if you've ever used Facebook.
When you put a link in you Tweet, you're pretty much broadcasting that link to everybody who is following you. The key to Twitter advertising is to have lots of followers, so that you get a lot of people seeing your link.
That's about it. There are a couple of tricks to getting followers, such as following people who will broadcast to people to follow you. This topic has a fair few tricks like that.
Good luck. 🙂

160 (or 140) characters I believe. I'm pretty sure it is 160, because that's the character limit in TXT messages.JakJak said:Twitter allows simple updates with up to 255 (I think) characters. It's a good way of keeping people updated.
It's 140. Standard text messages allow 160, which gives 20 extra in case of overflow or for Twitter to add on an extra bit of message. I should know, I use it from my phone most of the time...fantanoice said:160 (or 140) characters I believe. I'm pretty sure it is 160, because that's the character limit in TXT messages.
