Do you think it's a good move for Twitter to exchange the bird logo for an X?

I think it's an odd choice to be honest with you, they've had the bird logo for a long time now. They used to have a lowercase t as their logo too, which made sense. Even the bird makes sense too since you send "tweets" and it's a onomatopoeia for the noises birds make.

Right, I definitely don't get the reasoning behind the X. It's a tilted T? LOL

I read something earlier about Musk wanting to change the Twitter logo but I never saw what he would like to change it to.

The bird makes sense due to the name of the platform which is Twitter and also because anything posted on the platform is a Tweet which is exactly what birds do.

Not too sure how an X is going to work out as a logo but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Elon Musk reminds me of David Bowie's character in the film The Man Who Fell To Earth. A clever but completely flawed individual, probably from another planet.

To date his involvement with Twitter has been a complete disaster and this proposed re-branding will do even more damage if implemented . Companies such as Apple and Coca Cola have a logo that is an integral part of their DNA. Twitter is the same. Mess with it at your peril. To Twitter is to Tweet, to X is to Xit and that's what the majority will do.

Well, it's official... X.com

The logo is hideous.

I thought this was a joke, and still kind of think it is… Surely he’ll randomly change it back in the next day or so.

I'm not a big Twitter user, and really only have the PF account, but I can't understand this move of his. It isn't logical. So hoping you're right that this is one of his famous hoaxes, I mean, when he does this, the place gets activity. He's one of those who thrives on drama.

To be quite frankly, Twitter actually has a branding issue. Big time.

Honestly, I'd do similar. But not immediately. I would do what Instagram is currently doing; if they want to be a threads user, they'd have to migrate their profiles into threads. It's not like a forum database being merged into another database, but rather a system where the developers would make a transition bridge from instagram to threads.

Linda Yaccarino, who is the current C.E.O of Twitter is the branding expert here, she would know. But the thing is, she is a WEF girl. 🙄 Twitter has a branding issue that is attached to the website whereever it goes. Pedophiles, leftist ideology, terrorist threats, the media trashing it, and then it goes into the hate towards Musk, and more censorship, so on and on and on...

Elon wants to bring back his vision of his "X" product, which was supposed to be a PayPal before PayPal was even a thing. There's even a credit card for "X" even back then.

Well, his son is named X and he loves the letter X and so why not call it all X 😛

Why does he loves X so much I do not know why
I was laughing at this part, but yeah. It IS weird. However, a lot of people don't like the name and think they're saying "X" isn't cool. Bulls#!^.

Most gamertags are using "X" in the name. Microsoft named their console "Xbox" for a reason. Porn locations use "xXx" as an attractive eyeball grabbing marketing strategy but hasn't been used by porn companies in 20 years. It's now PornHub, it's OnlyFans, it's these social sites. So, that leaves "X" as the cool brand today. I wish I owned that domain. One lettered domains dominate, because it's way too easy to remember. Too easy.

I named myself "Carlos X" because I have that same obsession with the letter "X" as he does. I even had the same corporate idea as he does. I named one of my handles "CarlosXCorp."

Some ideas he has, I had 20 years ago. Only difference is one has money, and the other doesn't.

What does the X really stand for though?

"Anything." X marks the spot. X, exit.

I think that's the point. You don't interpret it. It's anything.

Elon Musk wanted an "all in one" everything app. In China, there's an app called waibo, and you can do almost anything. I've never used it, but I can imagine what it does. It's basically Reddit (threaded containers with upvote/downvotes), Twitter (replies under threads with retweets), YouTube (video content), facebook (likes/dislikes), blogs/community posts, shopping stores, etc.

XXXXX means Kisses 😛

He defo needs an X marks the spot one day with an Axe to his X spot on his head.

the new platform of "X" will defo die

I think he should had went to Facebook route and just made the parent company X like Facebook did with Meta.

I personally think it's branding suicide to do what he did but it's his 40+ billion dollar toy to do with what he wants. I reckon if you pay that, you get to make whatever change you want even if it's on the nutty side.
