Two forum concepts, ideas?

I am in the process of brainstorming ideas and concepts for a forum I want to start, in one of the two genres listed below. I would like some community input first. So let me know what you would like to see in this type of forum(s) and if you have any unique ideas. 😀

First Genre: Debate

Second Genre: Culture/Religions/World/Countries

Depends, which genre do you enjoy the most? Are you passionate with both? Also, what is your goal? What will make you unique and set you apart from other communities alike?

I would go with the second option, It has more categories and will get more users and besides you can easily throw debate as one of the category as well.

No matter what you chose, making it unique is up to you. Both genres demand from you to have your own opinions and to write about them in a way that everyone will understand them.
So no matter what you chose, only you can make it unique. There are no new ideas to a debate forum to be honest.

I think both are pretty good ideas to go for.

I run a debate forum and so far it has been somewhat difficult to draw users in, but I probably haven't been giving it my absolute best effort because of school.

Seems you will have a lot of debates on a political forum already. I would not want to have anything to do with politics or religion. People get nuts over those topics.

Shole summed it up well. In the end, you need to have a passion for it and an end desire to attract users and make it unique. That's how you'll succeed with it. 😉
