Does anyone know if I can just update to 9.10 by using the update manager without burning another Image to CD?

You can use the update manager to upgrade when it's released, make sure release updates are actually seen on your installation first though 🙂 This is done in the Synaptic Software settings I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong, been a while since I logged into Ubuntu

I have been meaning to try it out. Maybe its time to create a new partition and try it out

Tried the Live CD, new colours are awfully dull, there was also a new messenger pe-installed, which I didn't really take to. Other than that, not really making me excited.

You can easily change the theme, or make a custom one.. I must say that version 9 is much better than version 8: Faster boot up and shut down time and over all it is much more efficient.

If you are talking about Pidgin IM, I've been IMing using that on Windows Vista for years. 😛 I'm fairly sure it was on version 8 as well.

Not a big fan of Ubuntu tbh.
Well there is absolutley no point in posting in this thread if you do not neccesarily care for Ubuntu.

I know you can change the theme. They have changed the IM, I know Pidgin was in the previous version, hence why I said they changed it

I did know this already.

I don't like Ubuntu, Mandriva all the way!
Both new versions mandriva and ubuntu in November.

Dude seriously, if you do not like Ubuntu, dont post it. THis is a news thread for interested people.

9 days i have the beta installed and love it 🙂 but i wouldnt recommend updating just yet few bugs etc

I just installed a partitioned 9.10 beta. I gotta say as a beginner in Linux, Ubuntu came a long way from 9.04 😵 lol. Talk about User-friendly.

I install Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha on a Virtual Machine with Suns VirtualBox. I find the start up screens, and the wallpaper to be nicer. Ubuntu also seem to added a few wallpapers. It starts up and shutdown pretty quick to. The biggest improvement is the software install and uninstall tool. It is so easy to use.
