Next time lower the opacity on the lines. May make it more Smexy.

Alright so your scanline is not the best. You need to have a 3px by 3px tight scanline for a smoother and cleaner feel. Also your scanline takes away from the design so give it a transparency of about 10%. It is just enough to see it in a subtle way.
Next. Your gradient going from left to right moves the eyes in such that direction that it takes away from the ubuntu logo. I suggest it be 90 degrees (up and down). And I would have used a smoother gradient that consists of 2 oranges. One being alittle dark and one being just alittle lighter than the dark.
Now the logo. It has a white background. It needs a transparent background. And as kino said the visitor font is good but I tend to use Myriad Pro Regular at 12px or smaller with a drop shadow of 1px distance at a 90 degrees with a slight transparency to make it pop.
