For those using SSD, can you please share your experience, how long have you been using and how much did it cost you. I am planning to buy storage for archiving and I am considering SSD. However, it is still more expensive than the hard disk. But if the performance is flawless then maybe SSD is it for me.

They are allot cheaper then they used to back 5 or so years. I would get 500GB since 120GB is nothing. Easy to install if you want to do an clean install or clone the drive

Why do you want an SSD for storage / archiving? The transfer speeds will be quicker but you'd usually be doing that automatically overnight when you're not using the computer so why does it matter? Surely you'd want the extra space of an HDD instead?

You should be using an SSD for day-to-day stuff like your OS and any programs / files you open all the time. Everything else you can chuck on an HDD with lots of space. It will save you a lot more money as well.

that's what I do, SSD for the OS and some programs then 3TB HDD for other things

The Samsung EVO series via NVMe has been popular for gamers, high performance, and industry users. Perhaps, you should consider one of those? 🙂 The cost for the lower range EVO series is decent as well.
