Can anyone give me instructions to update phpBB3?
Version 3.0.1 came out two days ago, and I'm a bit worried that if I try it with my heavily MODded board, the whole thing could be destroyed.
Help is appreciated. ~cheesey_grin~

If you have a test forum this might help - http://forum.freeforums.org/viewtopic.p ... 529#212529

All you can do it try the automatic update and if it can't merge some files choose the use new file option and then afterwards do the edits to that file(s) again as i had to redo the edits on 3 files because of conflicts here.

Keep backups and give it a try... If it doesn't work just restore it but it shouldn't be to many problems as if the worst comes to the worst you just have to redo some mod edits which don't take that long to do.

They really need to start releasing these updates as MODX files.
Where could I find a list of files changed, so I know what to mod.

Most files merged fine for me... It was only includes/acp board, includes/acp user and functions.php that didn't merge and i had to do the edits for them ones again.

If you do the automatic update it will say which ones it can merge and which ones it can't then you do the edited on the files it can't.

There isn't a list on changed files but i am guessing from the bug fixes that a large percentage of files have been touched. It really is not hard to upgrade and it didn't take me long to do and this board is quite modded.

Yeah, but I'm most concerned about my SEO MOD. Has quite a lot of edits.
*Prays that this goes smoothly*

It will probably only be a few files which isn't as bad as having to reinstall all the mods again. Just try it and see... If you do a test board and then upgrade that and see what files have a problem you can then take you time to do the edits and then when it comes to the main one it is as simple as getting it to merge as many files as possible and the files that have a problem you can just upload as you have already done the edits to upgrade your test forum.
