Upgrade Your Slow Computer

Mine is 6 years old and it hasn't even slowed down at all.... 🙂

I built it with the top hardware to last, All I did was install and 500GB SSD in it last year

Our desktop was bought in 2009. It is a 32-bit processor running on Windows XP. It's still running good maybe because we are maintaining the hard disk with ample space. But we cannot upgrade the operating system because old programs wouldn't run under Windows 7 so we had to revert to Windows XP. The problem now is the OS that is being obsolete. We cannot use cloud storage anymore.

You can often improve speed with a utility cleaner. Some top brands are System Mechanic, cCleaner. Does anyone know more?

Even having your OS on an SSD, and have the startup software disable rather then enable.

SSDs breath so much life into older machines its amazing. Like this whole time you've been robbed of what your computer has been able to do this whole time. RAM is always good too.

Indeed, and they are always improving them to, trying to make them smaller and even faster. That's why I'm thinking to get an raspberry PI be cool to have that going with an ssD in it 😛

I really need to update my everything in my PC. I am not sure if I want to update my GPU & RAM, or wait until I fully customize another build. It's a hard decision because I want to be able to run Fortine smoothly among some other games. Not sure what to do yet!

Due to cryptocurrency miners and DRAM manufacturers, both of those components are out of their RRPs at the moment. While GPU pricing is supposed to drop within the next few weeks, I don't foresee any noticeable drops in memory pricing as a result of the ongoing lawsuit against the triopoly for a while.

Yeah I have noticed a lot of things are awful pricing right now.

They seem to be coming down a bit lately! Ive been seeing Nvidia GPUs a lot closer to MSRP than I have all year. AMD GPUs are still hit harder to get though. 🙁

That's decent. I'll have to keep an eye on them! I want to upgrade my GPU soon.
