I am not from the US but I recently I have been really interested in the US election. I know it is the final day today and I was wondering have you voted or has your parents voted and who did you vote for?

I personally would like Obama to win, usually what effects the US effects the UK too.

I have been really involved with the Electon too, watched all the debates, closing speeches..everything. I really want Obama to win, everything he says makes sense and he has a really good attitude towards putting the Country first and sorting out all the financial problems.

To me McCain seems desperate to be president. In his closing speech, rather than make a final push to express what he will do for the country he spent the whole time talking about why Obama shouldn't be president.

The problem with this election is that because Obama is a democrat, his party supports Gay marriage and abortion (two things I strongly oppose). On the other hand, lots of people don't like McCain for the person he is, and as well as that he had Sarah Palin as a running mate who has already demonstrated she isn't responsible with the budget. In the end, you end up with a percentage of non-voters which is why the polls never add up to 100%. ~rolleyes~

Really looking forward to hearing the result ~smile~

Yeah he got Arnie to give some rubbish speech too.

I hope I wake up to find some good news.

I didn't think we could vote. Thought it was just the Amercians :S

Anyway, Obama FTW.

It is just the Americans. I was just saying it would be great if Obama won in many ways and usually whatever happens in American has an effect on us.

Yeah, i want Obama to win. I really don't want McCain for a few reasons.

-His running mate is irresponsible
- He agreed with George W Bush to spend millions for the fight in Iraq instead of helping the economy

I hate Angela Merkel so much.

Its obvious who is going to win, it has been for months.

I support McCain and here is a bit I posted on another forum about why Obama's Iraq strategy won't work.

Current day-Iraq. Right now Obama is planning on pulling the troops out of Iraq the first chance he gets---bad idea. when we leave, Iraq will be in chaos (the UN won't do ANYTHING about it), and oil prices will skyrocket. Think $4 and $5 gasoline was bad, it will be even worse if Obama gets his way with Iraq.

$4 isn't bad though. I am sure Christian worked it out somewhere and it was we have much higher petrol prices and i mean much higher. -🙁

In the USA, $4 is the worst we have seen, though diesel fuel hit almost $5.
I know it is much higher in Europe. I remember seeing somewhere that it was $10 a gallon in France. Here we have a lot less public transportation.

That's not true. The Democrats do not support gay marriage, only civil unions for same-sex couples and the repeal of DOMA.

The election is exciting though. Looks like Florida is gonna be the clincher again.

Meh, pretty much everyone here prefers McCain, including me.

I don't like Obama at all, one reason being what Elochai said.

The results didn't say that though...

Obama has won, but is it time to celebrate? Ive got a poll going to see how many people think he will die in office, voice your thoughts,

Well yeah there is something to celebrate, he may be president until the 20th of January so nothing will change that much now but he is the first ever African American president.

Around 50 years ago, there was lots of segregation between the blacks and whites, they couldn't even sit on a bus together. Now, we have the first black president which for me would be something to celebrate, it also shows how far things have come.

True, but it could also show how much things havnt changed if he does indeed get killed. This would show america hasnt changed much, as there are still people who have the ability to bypass all secret service and kill the most important person in america. The way I see it is simple, if he gets killed there will be a war, between those who are for black presidents, and those who arnt, as myself. Id hate to have another civil war, but I saw on my local news today at school (We have it on after lunch before the bell rings) that a mass group of kkk and neo nazi members were having out-of-country meetings today, and we all know they dont have a bright and shining past...
