US soldiers face murder charges for killing Afghan civilians

Twelve American soldiers face charges over a secret "kill team" that allegedly blew up and shot Afghan civilians at random and collected their fingers as trophies.

Five of the soldiers are charged with murdering three Afghan men who were allegedly killed for sport in separate attacks this year. Seven others are accused of covering up the killings and assaulting a recruit who exposed the murders when he reported other abuses, including members of the unit smoking hashish stolen from civilians.

Wow, I just hope this isn't real for the sake of our military. War crimes are nothing new, but they're still shocking when exposed. If true these men deserve the full extent of the law against them, save for the death penalty.

One could argue though that this isn't entirely their fault. Soldiers are known to come back emotionally unstable due to what they've seen and are completely desensitized to violence. Even my dad who was only a civilian in Iraq has medication prescribed to this day from when he returned.

Still, this doesn't make what these men allegedly did anyless disgraceful.

It's totally disgraceful. These aren't true American soldiers. These are pieces of shit and deserve the worst punishment possible.

I guess a military court can decide that. Throwing them in jail for a long, long, time probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
