step 1: use the gradient tool and use 2 colors that fits each others.
step 2: create a new document that is 6x6 pixels.
step 3: use the pencil tool and square that is size 1.
step 4: click CTRL + a few times till it is at 3200%
when your done it should look like this
step 5: go Edit => Define Pattern..
step 6: name it user bar lines
step 7: go back to your user bar and put a gloss on it.
how to put gloss:
Use the Ellipse tool.
make it white and when your done put the opacity to 20%
it should look like this
now go to layers on the right. double click on your user bar.
step 8: put some text into it and then your done!
