I just went to a forum that had usernames but inside that username was an image. It was actually on the right of the username like this -> Username Image

Now, what do you think of this? Would you do this sort of thing on your forum to make guests/new members more aware that who's the staff?

I think he means having images next to staffs' usernames to identify them, usually crowns / badges. Example:

crown2.png

(taken from the view thread page of a forum I use. said user is a global moderator).

It depends on the forum. But some forums run better, when the staff don't stand out. Sometimes, making a strong distinction between staff and members can be damaging to a community.

Runescape for the win :great:

Anyway, well I have a small little bit of code to do this in phpBB3, one edit but I'm going to
develop it further as I think that having a small image would be helpful but also makes your
forum look more professional and better.

I think it's good if staff stand out a little so they're more easily accessed with speed by members who need help. On the other hand, having them stand out TOO much can again like someone said up there, enforce a sort of class division. Staffs' names are in bold letters on our site, and it says "Administrator" under their name or whatever they are, but they're the same apart from that.
